Mr. Walker initially joined Komatsu Mining Group, which was known as Joy Global Inc. at the time, as a service manager and field engineer in the mining sector from 2001 to 2010. Subsequently, he earned the title of operations manager for the southwest U.S. between 2010 and 2015.
During his time in operations at Joy Global Inc., Mr. Walker was instrumental in turning the company around after suffering significant challenges by building a strong team and focusing on customer service. His two-decade-long tenure with the organization required him to relocate to various states close to 10 times before settling in Georgia, demonstrating Mr. Walker’s commitment to professional success and the business’s success.
In preparation for his future, Mr. Walker received an associate degree in electrical technologies from Great Basin College in Elko, Nevada, and a Bachelor of Business Administration and Management from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix. His education has been pivotal to his success in business leadership. Notably, Mr. Walker’s first language is German. Because his father served in the U.S. Army, he spent his first four years of life in Germany before moving back to the U.S., where he began kindergarten.
In addition to his primary career endeavors, Mr. Walker has drawn satisfaction from volunteering at the men’s halfway house in Longview, Texas. Giving back to causes beyond his primary business concerns is a testament to his passion for community involvement and caring for others in need.
Eager for the future, Mr. Walker is determined to assist Solesbee’s Equipment in future growth and expand beyond the southeastern area of the U.S. by promoting the brand and supporting more end users throughout North America. He attributes much of his accomplishments in sales thus far to servant leadership, being open-minded and actively listening. He thoroughly believes that every voice is vital in shaping the company’s direction, regardless of title. Moreover, Mr. Walker underscores that the key to success in any leadership position is how one treats employees. He believes that if employees are successful, then everyone is successful.
