Title: Founder and Chief Executive Officer
Company: Snack House Foods
Location: Monroe, Michigan, United States
Brandon J. Schock, founder and chief executive officer of Snack House Foods, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in food production and agriculture.
With nearly 15 years of experience as a business owner, Mr. Schock found his true calling when he shifted into the world of food production. He first built on his childhood interest in work processes and manufacturing by joining a robotics team in high school before opening his first business, a construction company named Schock Building Co., in 2012. For this venture, Mr. Schock worked to meet the needs of both commercial and residential clients. He gained experience managing projects valued at hundreds of thousands of dollars and directed the hiring and training of a team of 30-plus employees.
Though Schock Building Co. was successful, Mr. Schock faced a major life change in 2015 after undergoing surgery that required him to change his lifestyle and, most pressingly, his diet. As part of his recovery from surgery, he needed to increase his protein intake, but he found himself frustrated by the lack of variety in protein snacks available at the time. Mr. Schock found himself thinking back to the work ethic and motto his grandfather had taught him: “If no one else is doing it, I can do it myself.” With that idea in mind, he launched Pro-Puffs as his second business in 2017.
With Pro-Puffs, Mr. Schock established himself as an innovator in the world of food, developing multiple varieties of crunchy, flavorful high-protein snacks. Under his leadership, the company has steadily grown to seven figures in value. As it has continued expanding its offerings, Mr. Schock rebranded the organization to the name Snack House Foods in 2019. The organization reached new heights of success during the COVID-19 pandemic, when he was able to quickly respond to changing conditions and adapt, improving the company’s international distribution system to include Hong Kong, New Zealand, Australia, Saudia Arabia and several countries in Latin America.
Beyond his focus on Snack House Foods, Mr. Schock recently stepped into a concurrent role as chief commercial officer of VitaSoil. This agricultural company produces cutting-edge organic additives that can help regenerate soil without resorting to genetically modified organisms (GMOs). Mr. Schock views VitaSoil as a massive opportunity for the future, with a product that has the potential to change the landscape of the agricultural sector on a global scale. He plans to use his operations leadership to guide this organization to success on the same level as Snack House Foods.
Though his professional journey has been filled with many memorable moments, Mr. Schock is especially proud of his commitment to his employees. He has maintained a team of the same 10 full-time employees since first opening Snack House Foods, building a family atmosphere that he believes has been crucial to the company’s success. Mr. Schock also prioritizes manufacturing all of the company’s products at his own facilities in Michigan rather than working with third-party manufacturers. This extends to research and development, where he invites employees to be involved in the process as taste testers.
Looking to the future, Mr. Schock is entirely focused on the continued growth of both Snack House Foods and VitaSoil. He is driven to keep creating new products, formats and flavors of snacks and aims for a global reach. Between the two companies he is running, Mr. Schock looks to have a lasting impact on the worlds of agriculture and food production.
