Mr. Wilkerson has established a reputable career in information technology and banking, marked by nearly three decades of progressive leadership and technical expertise. Since 2023, he has served as a senior vice president of information technology at First Community Credit Union in Houston, Texas. In this capacity, Mr. Wilkerson oversees the design, construction and maintenance of complex network infrastructures, ensuring robust and secure systems that support the organization’s continued growth. His expertise in infrastructure development has been instrumental in advancing the credit union’s technological capabilities.
Recruited from Stellar Bank, also in Houston, Mr. Wilkerson was an executive vice president and director of technology for the bank from 2022 to 2023. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in uniting two banks, one with $6 billion and another with $8 billion in assets, into a single organization comprising 55 branches, more than $12 billion in assets and 1,200 employees. This achievement stands as one of Mr. Wilkerson’s most notable professional milestones, reflecting his ability to lead large-scale integrations and drive organizational success.
Leveraging his former experience, Mr. Wilkerson held the position of executive vice president and director of technology at the CommunityBank of Texas N.A. in Houston, between 2014 and 2022. He also previously served as the senior vice president and information technology manager for the institution from 2008 to 2014. In these roles, Mr. Wilkerson was responsible for overseeing all aspects of information technology operations, including network security, system upgrades and strategic planning for future growth.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Wilkerson worked as a network engineer at Compass Bank starting in 2007, where he managed the Citrix farm for the bank and collaborated with a team of five. He also excelled from 2004 to 2007 as a server support manager at Texas State Bank in the Beaumont–Port Arthur area, where he led teams responsible for maintaining reliable server environments at the bank’s information technology center.
Mr. Wilkerson’s educational background included earning an Associate of Applied Science in computer robotics technology from Lamar University and an associate’s degree in industrial technology from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. His academic achievements provided a strong foundation for his technical acumen and leadership abilities.
Throughout his career, Mr. Wilkerson has demonstrated a commitment to professional development and industry engagement. As a founding member of the Banking Information Sharing and Analysis Organization since 2019 and a governing body member of the Texas Technology Summit, he has contributed to shaping best practices within the financial technology sector. Additionally, Mr. Wilkerson has been active with the Houston chapter of the CISO Executive Network since 2020 and the TEXAS CIO since 2025.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Mr. Wilkerson is civically engaged as a member of Community Care and supports the American Heart Association. These affiliations reflect his dedication to community well-being and public service.
Inspired by an early interest in computers, beginning with programming on a Commodore 64 during his youth, Mr. Wilkerson credits his success to strong mentors, self-motivation and adaptability over three decades of industry evolution. Looking ahead, he aims to double the size of his organization while fostering team growth before ultimately retiring. His long-term ambition is to advance into a C-suite leadership role within the industry.
