Mr. Bertaut has established a notable career in technical project management, marked by two decades of expertise in extensive network planning and operations. Since 2019, he has served as a technical project manager at Virtual Service Operations, where he manages technical project management for data center initiatives. In this capacity, Mr. Bertaut ensures efficient operations and project delivery, collaborates to meet specific client needs and project requirements, optimizes data center performance and cost effectiveness through innovative solutions and strategic planning, and oversees multiple teams across several projects. His leadership and technical acumen have been instrumental in driving the success of complex data center projects.

Recruited from IBM Global Systems Inc., Mr. Bertaut served as a telecommunications project manager from 2018 to 2019. There, he directed telecommunications projects that required precise coordination and technical oversight, honing his skills in managing large-scale technology initiatives. Mr. Bertaut also excelled as a data center migration analyst and project manager at Charter Communications between 2017 and 2018, responsible for overseeing the migration of critical data center assets, ensuring seamless transitions with minimal disruption to business operations. Earlier, in 2017, Mr. Bertaut held the position of project manager at Mobilitie, overseeing small cell deployment in the Baltimore, Maryland, and Washington, D.C., region.

Among other progressive roles, Mr. Bertaut was a senior project manager at Time Warner Cable, a project manager III at Sprint, and a senior manager of network planning at NII Holdings Inc. He began his career with Nextel International, which spanned from 2005 to 2010 and included working as a network planner, network planner III and senior next-generation network planner. During this period in his career, Mr. Bertaut achieved one of his most notable accomplishments, which involved redesigning a base site controller for the company that resulted in $17 million in savings within a single year while maintaining operational efficiency and significantly enhancing financial performance.

Mr. Bertaut’s academic background has been foundational to his professional achievements. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of South Florida and a Master of Arts in geography from the University of Georgia. Mr. Bertaut’s commitment to continuous learning is evident through numerous professional credentials, such as a certified scrum master from Scrum Alliance and recognition as a certified project management professional from the Project Management Institute.

Further reflecting his dedication and expertise, Mr. Bertaut has maintained active participation with industry organizations such as the planning committee of the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority and membership with his local planning commission. Beyond his professional pursuits, he is deeply engaged in civic activities. He has served as the president of his local homeowners’ association since 2014. He has also been active as a town council member for the Town of Purcellville since 2020, currently serving as mayor. Additionally, Mr. Bertaut has contributed as an adult leader with Boy Scouts of America, has participated in projects with Habitat for Humanity, and has been active in his church.

Throughout his career, Mr. Bertaut has demonstrated exceptional proficiency in technical planning for large networks.  Looking ahead, he aims to make substantial improvements to the organization of the town where he currently serves as mayor while continuing his charitable work and involvement with his church. He also seeks ongoing professional development within consultative information technology project management, a field where Mr. Bertaut continues to focus his efforts with dedication and vision.
