Beyond her work in this capacity, Ms. Davis has served as an associate general counsel at Tempus AI, a Chicago-based, publicly traded technology company leading the adoption of AI to advance precision medicine, since 2021, where she has been instrumental in ensuring its needs are met. As such, Ms. Davis collaborates with technology and business stakeholders to identify and protect innovation, develop and execute IP strategy and policies, and provide counsel regarding complex transactions and agreements.
Moreover, Ms. Davis has served as an independent director at Scrum Alliance Inc. since 2022. Working remotely for the nonprofit organization, which is lauded as a foremost provider of scrum and agile credentials, she leads various initiatives while also playing an active role as the nominating committee chair and board secretary since 2024.
Instrumental to her success, Ms. Davis is well-versed in all areas of IP matters, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets and open-source assets. Her responsibilities extend to ensuring the seamless integration of these assets into products, infrastructures, policies, transactions, licensing, accreditation, employment and procurement processes. Ms. Davis also works closely with various business leaders to mitigate risks, safeguard products and services, and manage the development of associated elements.
Ms. Davis’s earlier success included serving as counsel for IP and innovation at Spotify from 2019 to 2021. In this role, she contributed to the protection and strategic management of the company’s IP portfolio during a period of significant growth in digital media. Before this, Ms. Davis was an attorney at International Business Machines (IBM) Inc. between 2008 and 2019, where she played a pivotal role in managing complex IP issues for one of the world’s leading technology companies. She simultaneously served as an IP attorney at a local law firm in 2012. Before entering the legal profession, Ms. Davis served as an assistant director at The Nurturing Center Inc.
Ms. Davis’s academic background began with a Bachelor of Engineering in computer engineering at the University of Delaware in Newark in 2005. She then received a Doctor of Jurisprudence from New York Law School in New York City in 2009. Ms. Davis is a registered patent attorney with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, is notary public certified by the New York County Clerk, holds a broker’s license issued by the New York Department of Corporations, and has a credential as a trained mentor through Mentor Collective.
During her studies, Ms. Davis garnered experience through various internships, beginning at Mohau Counselling Centre and the Ministry of Health in 2003 and 2005, respectively. In law, she completed a judicial internship for the Honorable Marcy S. Friedman at the New York State Supreme Court and a second judicial internship in the commercial division under the Honorable Richard B. Lowe III at the New York State Supreme Court, both in 2007. Moreover, Ms. Davis completed an internship with Ward & Olivo, Attorneys at Law, in 2009.
Ms. Davis’s professional affiliations include membership in both the New York State Bar Association and the American Bar Association. Throughout her career, she has also demonstrated exceptional leadership and dedication to service through her involvement with numerous other organizations, such as Chief, where she has been a member since 2020. Ms. Davis has also remained a member of Eta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated since 2002.
Civically engaged, Ms. Davis most notably served as a board member, treasurer, secretary, head of finance, and governance chair for Adoptive and Foster Family Coalition New York from 2016 to 2024, where she was pivotal in guiding the organization through financial challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic, helping it emerge successfully from this difficult period. Additionally, she was the general counsel for a nonprofit organization for more than a decade, between 2010 and 2021.
Ms. Davis’s accomplishments have been recognized with honors such as the Entrepreneurial Innovation Award from the University of Delaware in 2023. She attributes her achievements to the unwavering support of her family and the positive mindset instilled during her upbringing. Looking ahead, Ms. Davis strives to secure a role as chief legal counsel or possibly chief operations officer while broadening her involvement on boards, continuing her trajectory as a leader in law, business strategy and community service.
