Before his current position as president, Mr. Schlemmer served as the executive director of the Bitcoin Bay Foundation from 2022 to 2023. During this period, he played a pivotal role in expanding the foundation’s outreach and impact within the Tampa region and beyond. Mr. Schlemmer’s efforts over the past few years have contributed significantly to the growth of the local Bitcoin ecosystem.
From 2019 to 2021, Mr. Schlemmer worked as a materials engineer at Solchroma Technologies Inc. in Somerville, Massachusetts. In this role, he applied his technical knowledge to develop advanced materials solutions, furthering his experience in engineering and technology-driven environments. Mr. Schlemmer’s tenure at Solchroma Technologies Inc. began as a materials science intern in 2018 while still in college, where he gained hands-on experience that laid the groundwork for his subsequent achievements.
Mr. Schlemmer’s academic background includes earning a Bachelor of Science in chemical and biological engineering with concentrations in biotechnology and material science from Tufts University in 2019. This rigorous education provided him with a strong foundation in both engineering principles and scientific research methodologies. While working toward his degree, Mr. Schlemmer worked as a laboratory assistant at CAMLS USF Tampa in 2015, where he supported laboratory operations and developed foundational skills in scientific inquiry. He later gained experience as a research assistant at Kaplan Labs at Tufts University from 2016 to 2018.

He attributes his success to personal qualities, such as stubbornness and perseverance. He also pursues spontaneous ideas that may initially seem unconventional but often prove beneficial over time.
Looking ahead, Mr. Schlemmer aims for Bitcoin Bay Foundation to operate independently of him so that he may move into a consulting role during the next phase of his career. He hopes to be remembered as trustworthy for his long-standing service to the community, though he acknowledges that many recognize him primarily as “Tampa’s bitcoin guy.”
