Before his current role, Dr. Krishnan served as the chief technology officer at InsLyft, a financial services distribution-focused holding company in Florida, from 2024 to 2025, where he also contributed as an advisory board member. During this period, he was instrumental in developing innovative solutions that streamlined insurance processes and enhanced customer engagement. Between 2023 and 2025, Dr. Krishnan co-founded and managed InsuraSwift, an insurance technology company, where he played a pivotal role in shaping its strategic direction and technological advancements. He also excelled as a co-founder of InsurAware, an SaaS technology and end-to-end digital distribution platform, from 2021 to 2024, that integrated data analytics and automation into insurance offerings to improve client experiences.
In 2022, Dr. Krishnan served as a fractional chief technology officer at Alphind Software Solutions, now Alphind Healthcare, where he led software development and digital transformation initiatives. He previously spent 2019 to 2021 as the head of software engineering at Legal & General America and over a decade as the assistant vice president of application development at Banner Life, now Legal & General America, from 2004 to 2018.
Dr. Krishnan’s early career included a significant tenure at Citigroup Inc. between 1997 and 2004, serving as a vice president and senior lead analyst. During this time, he notably developed the platform that enabled instant credit card approval for major retailers such as The Home Depot and Sears. This transformative innovation revolutionized the credit card industry by allowing customers to receive approval before completing in-store purchases.
In preparation for his future, Dr. Krishnan earned a Bachelor of Technology in applied electronics and instrumentation at College of Engineering Trivandrum in Kerala in 1995, a Master of Business Administration in management from Hood College in Frederick, Maryland, in 2002, and a Doctor of Management in organizational change from the University of Maryland Global Campus in 2018. His dissertation focused on developing a framework for successful change models. It was published a year later and ranked among the top 25 dissertations worldwide.
Dr. Krishnan is an active member of the Frederick County Chamber of Commerce, reflecting his commitment to professional engagement within his local business community. He has also served as a fundraiser for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the Wilmer Eye Institute at The Johns Hopkins University and volunteers with the YMCA of Frederick County. Growing up in Kerala, India, Dr. Krishnan was actively involved in teaching underprivileged children while in high school, a contribution that helped raise literacy rates in the region and notably led Kerala to earn a Guinness World Record for literacy.
Throughout his career, Dr. Krishnan has been recognized for his contributions to technological innovation in both the credit card and insurance industries. He developed multiple automated underwriting engines capable of assessing customers’ health, habits and social behaviors to recommend suitable products, advancements that have improved both efficiency and customer satisfaction.
In light of his success, Dr. Krishnan’s efforts have been recognized with several technology innovation awards. He attributes his accomplishments to consistently treating others with trust and respect, a philosophy instilled by teachers, mentors, managers and family members throughout his life.
