From 2017 to 2022, Mr. Metchikoff was employed as an operator at Phillips 66 Company in Arroyo Grande, California. During his tenure, he managed refinery processes from crude oil intake to the production of refined products such as jet fuel, gasoline and diesel. This period marked a significant milestone in his career. Mr. Metchikoff quickly became a valuable team member by embracing every learning opportunity and obtaining numerous certifications. The facility’s closure did not diminish the value of his experience. Instead, it provided him with knowledge and skills that have proven invaluable in his subsequent roles.
Mr. Metchikoff’s earlier professional experience included serving as an emergency medical technician at Knott’s Berry Farm and Six Flags Entertainment Corporation from 2015 to 2019. He provided emergency medical care to guests and staff, demonstrating quick decision-making abilities under pressure. In 2015, Mr. Metchikoff also worked as an emergency medical technician for McCormick Ambulance.
In 2014, Mr. Metchikoff was a wildland firefighter with the South Dakota Department of Agriculture & Natural Resources. His career began with positions as an emergency medical technician at McCormick Ambulance from 2013 to 2014 and at Emergency Ambulance Service between 2012 and 2013.
Mr. Metchikoff’s educational background includes an Associate of Science in fire science from Río Hondo Community College, completed in 2012. This academic achievement laid the groundwork for his multifaceted career in emergency services, firefighting and industrial operations.
Apart from his degree, Mr. Metchikoff has earned several certifications that have significantly contributed to his professional development, each enhancing his technical proficiency and his ability to respond effectively in high-risk environments. Among them, he holds credentials in high-angle rope rescue, rope and confined space rescue training and confined space rescue from CMC Rescue Inc., in industrial fire brigade training from Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service within the Texas A&M University System, designation as a water distribution system operator grade II from the State Water Resources Control Board for the state of California and as an emergency medical technician.
Beyond his professional responsibilities, Mr. Metchikoff has demonstrated civic commitment through volunteer service as a firefighter with the Farmersville, Texas, Fire Department and as an industrial firefighter. He also served as an emergency department ambassador at Baldwin Park Medical Center for Kaiser Permanente, supporting staff and patients through volunteer efforts. These experiences have strengthened Mr. Metchikoff’s connection to community service while broadening his impact beyond paid employment.
