Ms. Young has established a distinguished and diverse career marked by leadership, service and a commitment to community advancement. Since 2022, she has served as a postmaster for the U.S. Postal Service, overseeing operations in Sulphur Springs, Como, Dike and Sulfur Bluff, Texas. In this capacity, Ms. Young is recognized for her exceptional service, earning respect for her persistence and goal-oriented approach.

An employee of the U.S. Postal Service for more than 30 years, Ms. Young was hired by the government organization in Dallas, Texas, in 1995 as a customer service manager and branch manager, where she remained for 15 years. Today, she is responsible for managing all aspects of her location, from ensuring employees are on task and customers are well cared for to handling grievances, all while ensuring mail is processed and delivered efficiently. Ms. Young’s history with the U.S. Postal Service earned her a reputation for setting clear goals and consistently achieving them through hard work and perseverance.

Alongside her commitment to the U.S. Postal Service, Ms. Young is the owner, founder and director of operations at Tina Turner Productions. Established in 2011, this organization creates family-friendly events featuring singing, dancing and poetry, providing a platform for artistic expression and community engagement. Ms. Young’s ability to connect with individuals and attract large audiences has been instrumental in the success of these events.

Ms. Young’s journey into community organizing began when residents sought her help in planning events in Garland, Texas. Recognizing unmet needs among vulnerable populations, such as people experiencing homelessness, she expanded her efforts beyond Tina Turner Productions to establish the Garland Legends Organization. Founded in 2016, Ms. Young serves as its chief executive officer. Through this nonprofit, she celebrates individuals who have made significant contributions to the Garland community. Ms. Young’s vision for the organization was inspired by her desire to recognize local legends and foster unity among residents by offering events for all ages.

Before her extensive career in the postal service, Ms. Young worked as a law enforcement deputy in El Paso, Texas, for several years. She also excelled as a branch manager at Dunbar Armored Inc., gaining valuable experience in security operations and team leadership.

Ms. Young’s educational background included coursework in computer science and engineering. Her academic pursuits provided a foundation for her technical proficiency and problem-solving skills throughout her career.

Beyond her professional career, Ms. Young has been actively engaged in community work. She currently serves as a chaplain for NaomiStar Chapter 31 of the Order of the Eastern Star. She has also volunteered with the sheriff’s department, further reflecting her dedication to public service. Ms. Young’s achievements have been recognized with several honors, including the MPA Composite Performance Summary Award from the U.S. Postal Service.

Raised by her mother, an evangelist, and alongside three brothers in a single-parent household, Ms. Young was deeply influenced by her mother’s street ministry and compassion for others. These early experiences instilled in her a caring nature and a sense of calling to support those around her. Ms. Young attributes much of her success to observing those who overcame adversity during her upbringing and to her commitment to wisdom, knowledge and understanding.

Looking ahead, Ms. Young intends to retire from the U.S. Postal Service so she can focus on building a stronger foundation for the homeless community by acquiring land and constructing homes for those in need. She is also dedicated to mentoring younger generations in professionalism, etiquette and financial management through her nonprofit initiatives, empowering them with free resources so they may thrive in an increasingly complex world. Ms. Young’s personal philosophy centers on helping others achieve their goals and dreams, reflecting a lifelong commitment to service over self-interest.
