Ms. Scott’s career spans two decades, marked by her expertise in product development and paid statutory programs. In 2021, she joined New York Life Insurance Company. In her current role as the corporate vice president of paid statutory leave at New York Life Group Benefit Solutions, Ms. Scott is responsible for developing and launching product offerings related to paid family leave and statutory disability programs. Her work involves collaborating with state governments and industry trade groups to ensure compliance with evolving regulations. Having begun her journey in the industry at The Standard, a leading insurance company in Portland, Oregon, in 2006, Ms. Scott initially worked as an associate disability benefits analyst. Over the years, she advanced through various roles, including disability benefits analyst and marketing product manager II. Ms. Scott’s tenure at The Standard led to her role as the director of product and service management from 2016 to 2019, and then as the director of business relations between 2019 and 2020, and as the agile product manager of claims until 2021.
A graduate of the University of Oregon, Ms. Scott earned a Bachelor of Science in public relations and image management in 2005. Advancing her credentials, she became a certified leave management specialist, certified Scrum product owner by Scrum Alliance and certified SAFe® 5 product owner/product manager through Scaled Agile Inc.
Active in her professional community, Ms. Scott is a member and content manager of the Portland Association of Health Underwriters and a member of the Life Office Management Association. She is also an executive advisory board member of the Disability Management Employer Coalition and a fellow of the Life Management Institute. Beyond her professional life, Ms. Scott is actively involved in civic organizations, such as the Boys and Girls Aid of Oregon and VoteAmerica, where she encourages voter registration within her community.
Ms. Scott’s professional accomplishments include being interviewed by Forbes Magazine and CNBC, highlighting her influence in the industry. Her expertise has afforded her opportunities to provide valuable guidance, mainly during her time at The Standard. Furthermore, Ms. Scott has presented at highly attended webinars and has spoken at numerous disability management employer coalition conferences, which focus on education in the absence management space, and has contributed to discussions on integrated absence management, covering a wide range of topics from disability insurance to compliance education and the impacts of absence management on other lines of coverage.
