She first joined the organization in 2015 as a regional sales director for Vanda Pharmaceuticals in Los Angeles, California, overseeing a regional team that would later become a source of pride due to their subsequent career advancements. Ms. Sario-Valdes then became a national sales director for rare disease between 2017 and 2023, during which she led national initiatives and contributed to the company’s growth in specialized markets.
Earlier in her career, Ms. Sario-Valdes held the position of regional sales business manager at VCA Animal Hospitals in Irvine, California, from 2014 to 2015, where she ensured organizational objectives by being responsible for top-line gross sales through the southwest region. She also worked as a senior talent acquisition specialist for diabetes at Medtronic, a medical equipment manufacturing company, in Northridge, California, between 2011 and 2013, focusing on recruiting top talent for critical healthcare roles.
Ms. Sario-Valdes’s foundational experience spanned more than a decade, beginning at Pfizer in Los Angeles as a market manager in 1998, then at GlaxoSmithKline (GSK plc) Pharmaceuticals, where she served in several progressive roles, beginning as a sales representative in Oakland, California, and working her way up to a district sales manager in Los Angeles. Ms. Sario-Valdes was then recruited by TCS Translations in McLean, Virginia, as the vice president of sales operations, before becoming a regional sales manager of specialty women’s health at Teva Pharmaceuticals in Los Angeles and Orange County until 2011.
In preparation for her future, Ms. Sario-Valdes earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry with minors in biology and mathematics from California State University, Los Angeles, in 1997, followed by a Master of Business Administration with a specialization in entrepreneurship from the University of Phoenix, completed in 2001. Additionally, she obtained a social media manager certification from the Social Media Manager School, now Social Media Pulse.
Ms. Sario-Valdes is an active member of several industry-related and civic organizations. She is a member of the National Institutes of Health and GoBundance Women. She has also served as a chapter president of Alpha Sigma Tau and sits on the board of directors for CSULA Associated Students. Ms. Sario-Valdes is further active through ongoing affiliations with Phi Kappa Phi and the Golden Key National Honor Society.
Throughout her career, Ms. Sario-Valdes has received numerous accolades recognizing her leadership and performance. These include achieving No. 1 region total sales growth for new business sales growth and total sales in 2015 and being named No. 1 regional sales director for total sales at Vanda Pharmaceuticals in 2016.
Ms. Sario-Valdes’s entry into sales was shaped by early experiences balancing demanding work schedules while pursuing higher education. Initially preparing for medical school after studying chemistry and biology, she shifted her focus following personal circumstances that required financial stability. Encouraged by a colleague, Ms. Sario-Valdes transitioned into sales to better support her family.
Reflecting on her career, Ms. Sario-Valdes credits her family as the primary influence behind her success. As an immigrant whose parents waited nearly a decade to come to the United States with six children and limited resources, she draws inspiration from their perseverance and determination to provide a better future. The support of her husband has also been instrumental throughout her journey, enabling her to pursue ambitious goals while providing their daughter with meaningful opportunities.
Ms. Sario-Valdes continues to exemplify dedication to professional excellence, mentorship, and personal growth through every facet of her life and work.
