Carlos E. Espinosa, Freelance Photographer at SemperShutter, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements and leadership in Photography.

Mr. Espinosa began pursuing a career in photography in 2010, culminating in the official launch of his business, SemperShutter, in 2017. Photography became both a therapeutic outlet and a means of connecting with others following his military service. Although professional demands sometimes challenged his passion, Mr. Espinosa continues to use photography as a bridge between communities and as a tool for storytelling within the organizations he supports.

Before transitioning into photography, Mr. Espinosa’s professional journey was distinguished by extensive military service. He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army between 2004 and 2008 after transferring from the U.S. Marine Corps, where he was affiliated from 1997 to 2003. His decision to join the military was shaped by family tradition, as several of his grandparents served, and a desire for discipline and personal growth after moving from South America to the United States during adolescence. The U.S. Marine Corps provided Mr. Espinosa with structure and instilled values that guided his transformation from a bullied teenager into a resilient adult. After sustaining a knee injury and experiencing severe post-traumatic stress disorder during his service, he transferred branches to continue fulfilling his commitment.

Within the U.S. Army, Mr. Espinosa first specialized as a hazardous materials inspector, ensuring safe shipment of materials such as ammunition and fuel overseas. He later developed expertise in drone operations, a role that combined his infantry background with transportation experience gained in the U.S. Marines. One of Mr. Espinosa’s proudest moments occurred while operating an unmanned aerial vehicle on his birthday when footage captured by him and his team identified individuals with improvised explosive devices on a main road, saving many lives through timely intervention.

Mr. Espinosa’s educational background included coursework toward a bachelor’s degree that has supported his diverse career pursuits. He also earned a certificate in photography from Austin Community College in Austin, Texas, in 2015. Other credentials included welding technology and welding from Central Texas College in Killeen, Texas, designation as a journeyman in electrical/electronics maintenance and certification in repair technology by STRAC Institute in Austin.

Among his civic and advocacy initiatives, Mr. Espinosa has served as a warfighter athlete and ambassador for Move United since 2024, the nation’s largest adaptive sports organization. His journey began as an athlete in 2017 after a mental health provider encouraged him to explore adaptive sports. Competing across Texas and the United States in adaptive cycling events, he found renewed purpose among athletes who have overcome significant physical challenges. Now, as an ambassador, Mr. Espinosa promotes over 70 adaptive sports disciplines and encourages veterans to discover their own potential through athletic engagement. He is committed to ensuring that individuals with disabilities are aware of opportunities available to them and strives to secure funding for these vital programs.

In his most recent role since 2025, Mr. Espinosa became a board member for Helping Restore Ability. In this capacity, he assists veterans in transforming their lives and supports the organization’s media efforts through his expertise in photography. Mr. Espinosa’s work is instrumental in raising awareness about the resources available to Texans facing in-home caregiving challenges and advocating for families caring for loved ones with disabilities. Mr. Espinosa’s involvement extends to supporting the military program within the organization, which empowers veterans with disabilities and connects them to essential services.

Throughout his career transitions, from military service to public relations and advocacy, Mr. Espinosa has demonstrated remarkable adaptability and resilience. Among his most meaningful accolades was an award received while serving overseas on his birthday for lifesaving action during drone operations. Mr. Espinosa credits much of his success to the unwavering support of his wife, the influence of his parents, resilience forged through trauma experiences and his faith.

Looking ahead, Mr. Espinosa aims to photograph major events such as the Olympics and remains passionate about contributing positively to others’ lives through continued advocacy work. For those aspiring to enter similar fields or support individuals facing adversity, he emphasizes empathy over judgment, encouraging others to look beyond appearances or circumstances when offering help or support. By fostering genuine connections rooted in understanding rather than assumptions or biases, Mr. Espinosa believes both giver and recipient can experience profound growth.
