Mr. Wyse’s distinguished career in communications and public relations spans more than three decades and is marked by a series of influential roles across the technology and business sectors. Since 2012, he has served as the managing director of Capital Content in the New York City metropolitan area. In this capacity, he leads the consultancy alongside a long-time partner, providing executive-in-residence services and strategic guidance to organizations navigating the evolving landscape of technology and media. Mr. Wyse’s work at Capital Content is characterized by a focus on emerging technologies and integrative health, as well as collaborations with venture-backed companies that have collectively achieved exits totaling approximately $16 billion.
In addition to his responsibilities at Capital Content, Mr. Wyse has held concurrent roles since 2022. As the senior director of communications and global head of content and publishing at Optimove Inc., also in New York City, he oversees content strategy and communications initiatives for the company’s North American operations. Mr. Wyse also serves as a trusted adviser to Vistage Worldwide, Inc., where he supports business leaders and entrepreneurs in addressing complex organizational challenges.
Mr. Wyse’s expertise extends deeply into human resources communications. Notably, he has partnered with executive search firms such as Korn Ferry and Christian & Timbers and has collaborated with managerial psychologists like Andrew Richard Hagberg of Hagberg Consulting Group to enhance their visibility within competitive markets. Mr. Wyse’s work often involved researching leadership qualities, such as surveys comparing leaders like Steve Jobs and Bill Gates, and presenting findings that garnered significant media attention.
From 2022 to 2023, Mr. Wyse was a senior communications adviser to the Loan Programs Office (LPO) at the U.S. Department of Energy in Washington, D.C. The LPO is notably a $300+ billion lending platform that finances next-generation U.S. energy infrastructure and advanced vehicle technology.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Wyse founded Media First in 1991, a public relations firm with offices in New York, Boston, Massachusetts, the Silicon Valley area of California, and Cleveland, Ohio. Over more than 15 years as the firm’s president, he guided the firm through significant growth before its acquisition by Hill & Knowlton in 2007. During his tenure at Media First, Mr. Wyse played a pivotal role in launching VMware as its first publicist and worked closely with SunEdison to promote solar services alongside Jigar Shah. His client portfolio included major corporations such as Teradata, Apple and IBM. He also contributed to the development of set-top box technology with Scientific-Atlanta and supported companies involved in internet infrastructure and telecommunications, efforts that helped pave the way for widespread Wi-Fi adoption.
Academically, Mr. Wyse holds an associate degree in accounting and finance from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. The analytical skills gained through his studies provided a foundation for his later success in marketing, advertising and public relations.
A member of Forbes Councils, LLC, since 2022, Mr. Wyse remains engaged with thought leaders across industries by contributing insights on communication strategies and business trends. His membership reflects his ongoing commitment to professional development and industry collaboration.
Civic engagement has been another important aspect of Mr. Wyse’s life. He served as a board member for the New York Theatre Barn from 2013 to 2020 and for IHPC from 2012 to 2018. Additionally, he has contributed as a donor to various organizations supporting community initiatives.
Mr. Wyse enjoys writing, a passion reflected not only in his professional pursuits but also in personal projects, such as his LinkedIn newsletter “Thinking Out Loud,” which quickly attracted thousands of subscribers within weeks of its launch. Through this platform, he explores topics ranging from artificial intelligence (AI) to workplace culture.
Throughout his professional journey, Mr. Wyse developed a unique approach to media relations that prioritized understanding the needs of reporters and editors over traditional company-centric messaging. This method enabled him to secure front-page placements for clients in prominent publications, including The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, The New York Times, and, among others, Bloomberg Businessweek. By translating complex technological concepts into accessible language and identifying trends relevant to both industry insiders and the general public, Mr. Wyse positioned himself as an essential bridge between innovative companies and the media.
Mr. Wyse attributes his achievements to unwavering focus on goals and persistent pursuit despite skepticism from others. Looking ahead, he intends to author one or more books exploring themes yet to be determined while continuing his weekly newsletter contributions on contemporary issues. Mr. Wyse’s legacy is defined by adaptability amid constant change, a quality reinforced by decades spent at the forefront of technological transformation, and by a commitment to lifelong learning that continues to shape both his career trajectory and personal ambitions.
