Thomas W. Mr. Lang’s career spans more than three decades, during which he has distinguished himself as an expert in finance and technology within the broader business sector. His dual roles as both chief financial officer and chief technology officer at North Coast Healthcare Management, based in Richfield, Ohio, since 2021 reflect his deep expertise in both financial oversight and technological transformation. Notably, the organization works with providers nationwide to arrange, coordinate and bill home health, hospice and home infusion services.
Under Mr. Lang’s guidance, the organization has evolved from a largely manual operation into a technology-driven leader in revenue cycle management. He is responsible for overseeing cash flow, margin analysis, market penetration and budget-to-actual performance. Mr. Lang collaborates daily with the chief executive officer to monitor human capital metrics and works closely with the chief operating officer to ensure that technology investments translate into greater productivity for employees. He also maintains regular communication with the information technology (IT) director and leads daily project huddles using Agile sprint methodologies to track progress on key initiatives. Additionally, Mr. Lang manages relationships with third-party IT vendors to optimize programming and support functions.
Mr. Lang takes particular pride in driving North Coast Healthcare Management’s rapid technological advancement. He views this transformation as one of his most significant professional accomplishments. His leadership style is marked by authenticity and transparency, and he is known for being genuine and straightforward, fostering trust and accountability among colleagues. By refusing to ask anything of his team that he would not do himself, Mr. Lang has cultivated an environment of mutual respect.
In addition to his current executive responsibilities, Mr. Lang is a principal managing partner at Thomas Kellie & Co., a start-up public accounting firm he co-founded in Cleveland, Ohio, in 2014. Through this venture, he enjoys helping small businesses grow by guiding owners toward a clearer understanding of their cost structures and financial mechanics. This work brings Mr. Lang personal satisfaction as he assists entrepreneurs in navigating complex financial landscapes.
Before these roles, Mr. Lang served as the director of financial operations-subrogation at Anthem Insurance Companies, Inc., from 2020 to 2021 after initially holding the position of senior manager of financial operations between 2016 and 2020. He also excelled as the chief financial officer at Union National Mortgage Company (now Union Home Mortgage Corp.), where he played a pivotal role in guiding the company’s growth from approximately $100 million to $1 billion in residential lending volume from 2010 to 2014. Mr. Lang oversaw IT functions during this period as well.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Lang held the position of controller at Safeguard Properties from 2008 to 2010. He was recruited to Safeguard from ADP, where he spent 2002 to 2008 as an assistant regional controller. At ADP, he contributed significantly to consolidating the company’s fragmented office structure into a unified regional model across five major markets that included Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati, Louisville and Indianapolis.
Mr. Lang’s professional journey began at Chemical Bank (now Chase Bank) soon after college. He then briefly worked for PNC Bank as an auditor before being acquired by Ernst & Young LLP (now EY) in Cleveland as a manager of financial planning and analysis in 1999, where he remained until the spring of 2002.
Mr. Lang’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in accounting from The University of Akron in Akron, Ohio, earned in 1993. He later acquired a Master of Business Administration in systems management from Baldwin Wallace University in Berea, Ohio, awarded in 2001. His degrees have been fundamental to his success in the industry.
Beyond his corporate achievements, Mr. Lang is deeply committed to civic engagement. He volunteers with his local Rotary Club and serves as the treasurer for his local Fraternal Order of Police lodge representing police union members. As the president of the Olmsted Falls Police Benevolent Association, he supports fundraising efforts for fallen officers and programs benefiting local food banks. Mr. Lang’s commitment extends further through volunteer work with charities supporting childhood cancer survivors, a cause close to him as the father of a survivor who receives ongoing care at Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital within the University Hospitals system in Cleveland.
For two decades, Mr. Lang has maintained a secondary career as a part-time police officer in his community, a role that reflects his dedication to public service. He also founded and directs a youth softball organization that continues even after his daughter’s participation ended three years ago. Among Mr. Lang’s most meaningful contributions is his involvement with Shop With A Cop, an annual initiative that supports children facing hardship during the holiday season by funding shopping trips through community donations.
Mr. Lang’s professional excellence has been recognized through numerous awards, including Officer of the Year in 2009, a Heroism Award in 2016 and a Life-Saving Award in 2026. He also received multiple high-performance awards at Anthem Insurance Companies Inc. and was part of a team that received a Managerial Award for leading the best-performing region nationally while employed by ADP.
Throughout his tenure, Mr. Lang’s career has been shaped by valuable lessons learned early on, most notably the importance of preparation when presenting ideas before senior leadership and the necessity of humility in leadership roles.
