Marcella E. Lingham, EdD, Chief Executive Officer at Quality Community Health Care, Inc., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in health care.
Since 1986, Dr. Lingham has been an executive director with the 2501 Primary Community Health Care Center, Inc., and has held a seat on the board of directors of Black Family Services. She became involved with health care because she was a board member and educator of the parent group when the center started, and has shepherded its mission with hard work and a sense of what she likes to do. Ms. Lingham is continuing to work hard at updating the organization and adapting to change. She is a Marquis Who’s Who Industry Expert.
An alumna of Cheyney University, Dr. Lingham also studied at Temple University before earning a BS in secondary education and history in 1965. She completed a MS in education from Temple University in 1970, and in 1980 she earned a PhD in education and sociology from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey. She was a teacher in Philadelphia in the late ‘60s, and continued to develop curriculums as project director and educational consultant for Research for Better Schools Inc. in the city until 1979. After she earned a doctorate, Dr. Lingham became an assistant professor of Rutgers for three years and was the executive director of the Primary Community Health Center of Mantua, inc. until 1984. She returned to Rutgers as a learning specialist of the School of Nursing until assuming her current position.
Dr. Lingham has earned a Recognition Award for her services, and continues to support numerous societies, including the Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development, the American Public Health Association, the American Association of University Women, the International Reading Association, the American Educational Research Association, and the Association of Fundraising Professionals. She was also accepted into the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Today, Dr. Lingham bears the responsibility of five health care facilities in Northern Philadelphia, and offers nonprofit services for low or no income patients in need of public health services.
