Mercedes F. Kweh, PhD, co-founder and chief executive officer at KweHealth LLC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in biotechnology.

Leveraging 20 years in academia to her credit, Dr. Kweh shifted to a career in biotechnology in 2019, co-founding KweHealth LLC alongside her husband. After establishing KweHealth, she served for two years as the director of clinical translation for Neobiosis LLC, establishing her credentials in the field. From 2018 to 2021, Dr. Kweh conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Miami’s Miller School of Medicine. Her early career included several roles at the University of Florida, such as biological scientist, graduate research assistant and laboratory manager, which was her first position in 2004.

A solid education has bolstered Dr. Kweh’s success. She initially obtained a Bachelor of Science in biology from the University of Miami and a Master of Science in immunology and microbiology from the University of Florida. She returned to the University of Florida to earn a PhD in immunology and molecular biology. As a childhood cancer survivor, Dr. Kweh initially planned to become an oncologist but discovered that she could potentially make an even bigger impact in the field of immunology. Since founding KweHealth, she has worked to spread awareness of cutting-edge exosome products that can be used to treat burns, neurodegenerative diseases and other complex medical issues. She authored a study on this topic for the Journal of Wound Management and Research in 2023.

Beyond her primary vocation, Dr. Kweh is dedicated to uplifting the next generation of scientists. To this end, she has established two initiatives through KweHealth: the DGK Empowerment and Education Alliance and the Women Entrepreneurs in Biotech internship program. Looking to the future, Dr. Kweh hopes to complete clinical trials for new regenerative medicines and make them more widely available. She also intends to continue studying exosome products and offering a holistic approach to improving health outcomes.
