He currently excels as the co-owner and broker at Zia Properties Inc., a role he has held since 2006. In this capacity, he oversees staff and daily operations and meets with residential property owners and prospective clients. Prior to this, he worked as an elementary school teacher and served as a coach for the Special Olympics from 1977 to 1981.
Mr. Hannum also dedicates his time as a volunteer with the Door of Faith Orphanage, and is a member of several organizations, including the New Mexico State University Alumni Association, the National Association of Realtors, the California Association of Realtors, the San Diego Association of Realtors, the American Apartment Owners Association, and the National Association of Residential Property Managers. Laying a solid educational foundation, he earned a Bachelor of Science in elementary education, minoring in special education, from New Mexico State University in 1980.
Reflecting on his career, he became an elementary school teacher right out of college before he and his wife moved to San Diego. After moving, he embarked on a new career in property management before moving into residential real estate sales. He takes great pride in having built his company to where it is today and attributes his success to his hard work and determination. In offering advice to aspiring professionals, he underscores that having face-to-face interactions with customers can significantly enhance the customer experience. In the coming years, he aspires to purchase some land for his family’s home, where he can grow olives and have a vineyard.
