Jason LeRoy Laws, landscape maintenance manager, designer, and arborist at Plant Whisperer, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in horticulture and landscape.
With over two decades of experience in horticulture, Mr. Laws has built a successful career specializing in plants, floriculture, plant and flower design, pruning, and tree health care. He is currently the founder of Plant Whisperer, a position he has held since 2024, where he manages large maintenance clients, oversees smaller enhancements and installations, and conducts tree health care evaluations and plant health screenings. His experience also includes roles as head arborist, trainer, and manager at Stratton & Bratt Landscape, and landscape installation manager at Bratt Landscape. Additionally, he has been involved in floral design since 2002.
Mr. Laws is also an active member of the Utah Nursery & Landscape Association, the International Society of Arboriculture, and the National Association of Landscape Professionals. His educational background includes coursework in horticulture at Utah State University in 1996 and general studies at Utah Valley University in 1994. He is also an ISA Certified Arborist®, a certification he earned from the International Society of Arboriculture in 2001, and holds the title of Master Gardener. He is also dedicated to community service as parent president for the Ballroom Dance Association at his local high school for 15 years, volunteers his time in tree pruning, gardening, and tree planting for his local church and community, and assists his neighbors and the local church community with various projects. Reflecting on his path, he takes great pride in his involvement with their partner company, which has been a key player in large projects, particularly with the Latter Day Saints Church. His deep love for plant life and his unique ability to “communicate” with plants to understand their needs have earned him the nickname “Plant Whisperer.” In 2021, he was honored as the Certified Arborist of the Year in Utah by the International Society of Arboriculture.
In advising aspiring professionals, Mr. Laws emphasizes the importance of patience, comparing a garden’s growth to the journey of life. He stresses that growth happens at its own pace, and while we might be tempted to push ahead, it’s essential to understand that things will unfold in their own time. He also encourages patience with oneself, noting that the only true control we have is over our own feelings, behaviors, and reactions. He draws a parallel to plants, observing how they respond to their environment and neighbors, often reacting quickly to unfavorable conditions. He advises learning from these natural lessons, reflecting on history, and striving for continuous improvement.
