Robert “Danny” Evans Jr., Project Director at PCL Constructors Inc., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Mechanical and Piping Systems.
Mr. Evans has established himself as a leading expert in mechanical and piping systems, earning widespread respect for his technical acumen and commitment to safety. His career spans more than three decades in the construction industry, marked by a steady progression from hands-on roles to senior management.
Since 2023, Mr. Evans has served as a project director at PCL Constructors Inc., which is a group of independent construction companies based in Canada that provides services throughout Canada, the U.S., the Caribbean and Australia. In his latest role, he is responsible for directing large-scale construction efforts, which currently encompass overseeing the installation of seven 48M cracking furnaces in Orange, Texas, a testament to his enduring expertise and leadership in complex industrial projects.
Initially hired in 2013, Mr. Evans served as a project manager for the organization in Roxboro, North Carolina, from 2013 to 2014. Over the next decade, he held progressive roles that included superintendent in Charleston, Tennessee, and project manager in Freeport, Texas, and Westlake, Louisiana. Between 2018 and 2023, Mr. Evans worked as a senior project manager at PCL Constructors Inc. in Baytown, Texas. During this period, he led the groundbreaking Supermodule project for Chevron Phillips Chemical Co., which involved modularizing a 2,800-ton cracking furnace into multiple preassemblies and transporting them to an active facility. This innovative approach earned seven major industry awards from Engineering News-Record and the Associated Builders and Contractors, as well as a Safety Award from Chevron Phillips Chemical Co. The project achieved nearly 1.9 million safe work hours without injuries or recordable incidents and resulted in Mr. Evans being named an ENR Top 25 Newsmaker for 2024.
Before joining PCL Constructors Inc., Mr. Evans excelled as a subproject manager at Yates Construction in Cleveland, Tennessee, from 2011 to 2013. Earlier that year, he worked as a technical specialist and construction manager for Mesa Technical Services in Decatur, Alabama. Between 2009 and 2011, he was a site manager and NCCER instructor at Lauren Engineers & Constructors after initially serving as a site manager and boiler general superintendent for the firm in 2008 and 2009. Mr. Evans’s earlier tenure included positions with Construction Engineers LLC, MEI LLC, PROMEK Inc., DMT Inc. and IMOCO Inc. He began his career in 1997 as a piping field engineer and National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) instructor at BE&K Building Group.
Throughout his career journey, Mr. Evans has demonstrated remarkable adaptability, transitioning from bridge work as a laborer and crane operator into the piping side of the business under the guidance of his father, a pipefitter superintendent, who instilled a strong work ethic and practical wisdom. This early foundation shaped his technical focus on piping systems while also inspiring him to pursue continuous self-improvement as both a craftsman and leader.
Mr. Evans’s educational background included coursework toward a Bachelor of Business Administration with a focus on project management from Columbia Southern University. In addition to his formal education, he holds numerous certifications that underscore his commitment to professional development, including several from the NCCER, as well as a project management certificate from Columbia Southern University, a Virginia master plumber license and a Virginia master heating, ventilation and air conditioning license, and a Virginia master gas fitter license from the Board for Contractors Tradesman. Among others, Mr. Evans received credentials as a certified qualifying agent for unlimited general and mechanical contractor licenses across multiple states, including Alaska, Louisiana, Virginia, Tennessee and Alabama.
Civic engagement is another area where Mr. Evans demonstrates leadership by participating in company-sponsored United Way initiatives, such as fundraising events that include sporting clay shoots and golf tournaments. By leveraging professional networks during these activities, he supports charitable causes while strengthening business relationships within the community.
What distinguishes Mr. Evans within the industry is his unwavering commitment to team development and clear procedural standards. He has worked alongside many colleagues, where he has cultivated deep mutual understanding that drives operational excellence within the PCL division. As projects conclude or expand, Mr. Evans embraces the challenge of integrating new team members while maintaining high standards of performance.
Among numerous accolades received over the years, Mr. Evans was honored with the Robert Stollery Award, a PCL Constructors Inc. leadership award recognizing outstanding management and performance within the organization, which he won at the district level in 2017. His expertise has also been recognized through multiple features in Engineering News-Record publications, including ‘ENR Top 25 Newsmakers,’ ‘Crews Takes Modular to New Levels’ and ‘Supermodule Project Proves a Moving Experience,’ as well as coverage in ENR Texas & Louisiana editions for both 2024 and 2025.
Mr. Evans attributes much of his success to influential mentors throughout his career, especially his father, whose example encouraged him to blend traditional trade values with modern technical training. Experience gained in both large corporations, such as BE&K Building Group, and smaller firms allowed him to develop a broad perspective on craft management while rounding out his expertise through hands-on fieldwork.
Looking ahead, Mr. Evans plans to continue working on major long-term projects while mentoring emerging leaders within PCL Constructors Inc., ensuring they are prepared for advancement beyond his own level when he eventually transitions into retirement.
