With three decades of experience, Mr. Stephens has built a successful career in compliance, operations, and management. He currently serves as the site director of laboratory operations at Q² Solutions, a role he has held since 2022. In this position, he advises executive management on annual expenses and capital expenditures, ensuring compliance with finalized budgets, and leads regulatory decisions, aligning laboratory SOPs and policies with guidance from the U.S. FDA and European OECD. He integrates, coordinates, and revises workflows to exceed client expectations in executing sponsor studies while developing business plans to align BioA site capabilities with Q² network sites, optimizing workflows and maintaining regulatory-quality data, identifying core areas of excellence to enhance site value, and eliminating inefficiencies. Committed to driving organizational change and increasing profitability, he challenges existing processes and leads change management related to integration activities. Additionally, he provides support, training, and mentorship to foster personal and team excellence, demonstrating leadership by example to maintain business continuity and support staff.

Mr. Stephens’ experience also includes several roles at Elanco, where he served as senior director of innovation systems and services from 2020 to 2021, senior director of research operations and global animal welfare from 2019 to 2020, director of research operations and global animal welfare from 2016 to 2020, and manager of global animal welfare in 2016. Earlier in his career, he held various positions at Eli Lilly and Company (now Lilly), including manager of veterinary resources from 2014 to 2016, compliance consultant from 2007 to 2014, Six Sigma Black Belt from 2012 to 2014, leader of in vivo pharmacology from 2004 to 2008, and associate toxicologist from 2003 to 2004.

Laying a solid educational foundation, Mr. Stephens earned a Bachelor of Science in veterinary technology from Purdue University in 2002 and a Master of Business Administration in finance from the University of Indianapolis School of Business in 2012. He is also certified as a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt. In light of his impressive undertakings, he has been honored by the Golden Key International Honour Society and was a past member of the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science. Additionally, he served as co-captain of the Light the Night Annual Fundraiser for the Lymphoma & Leukemia Society and received the Scientific Award for Scientific Innovation from Eli Lilly and Company. Reflecting on his journey, he made significant strides during his time at Elanco Animal Health, where he spearheaded the global animal welfare program by consolidating six separate programs into one comprehensive initiative. He also launched various efforts to improve the well-being of research animals, including adoption programs that allowed animals to transition into family life after their contributions to science. 

Mr. Stephens credits his success to his ability to drive change and identify core workforce solutions. He is committed to creating lasting, meaningful solutions rather than short-term fixes, and he focuses on establishing processes that will endure long after he has moved on from his role or company.
