Joseph S. Klein, CFP®, CLU, ChFC, financial advisor and planner at Maffe Financial Group, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in finance.
With nearly five decades of experience, Mr. Klein has built a successful career in finance, specializing in financial planning, retirement planning, Medicare plans, life insurance, sales, and public relations. He currently serves as a financial advisor and planner at Maffe Financial Group, a role he has held since 2002. In this capacity, he engages with potential clients, projects retirement assets and income, and provides ongoing client service. His past experience includes roles as branch manager at MetLife and controller at Financial Planning Services. He has also dedicated time to the Financial Planning Association, served as past president of the Central Connecticut Business and Estate Planning Executive Committee, and contributed to the Estate and Business Planning Council of Hartford. He actively supports local charities, his church, and volunteers with the Connecticut Food Bank.
In light of his impressive undertakings, he received the Five Star Wealth Manager Award from CT Business Magazine from 2014 to 2024, as well as numerous plaques and achievement awards. Laying a solid foundation for these successes, he earned a Bachelor of Science in business administration with a minor in economics from Central Connecticut State University in 1973, achieved the Chartered Financial Consultant and Chartered Life Underwriter designations in 2011, became a certified financial planner in 1993, and obtained his securities license in 1986.
Reflecting on his path, Mr. Klein began with a newspaper route serving 50 to 55 customers, eventually expanding to 155 by the end of the 1960s when he was just 16. He then transitioned to a position at Grant, managing store tasks and opening credit card accounts, where he recognized his strengths in sales and public relations. He successfully managed a branch for MetLife for a year and a half, learning valuable lessons despite finding it not the best fit. His most notable achievement is fostering lasting relationships with clients and business owners. With designations as a certified financial planner, chartered life underwriter, and chartered financial consultant, he is committed to helping others. He finds great fulfillment in his client relationships, often seeing repeat and referral business that affirms his dedication.
Mr. Klein attributes his success to fulfilling his purpose, aligning his actions with his calling, and finding meaning at this stage of life. This sense of fulfillment keeps him motivated and driven. He credits his achievements to his strong Christian faith and belief in Christ as his savior. Prioritizing health, he stays active through tennis, treadmill workouts, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. He has improved his ability to understand people by becoming a more attentive listener and shifting from a purely sales-focused approach to prioritizing clients’ needs and fostering genuine connections. In the coming years, he is determined to remain active in the workforce with no plans to retire. Although a successor has been appointed at Maffe Financial, he is passionate about continuing his work due to the fulfillment it brings and the positive impact he has on others. He aims to expand his business and implement changes while collaborating with fellow advisors for as long as his health allows. Mr. Klein also plans to transition to a new financial planning group, seeking an environment that offers greater support than his current broker-dealer.
