Mr. Lam has a storied career in the hospitality industry that began in 1999 as a part-time PBX operator and relief front desk clerk. After a period at FedEx and while studying at Florida International University, he joined Economos Properties in 2005. Starting as front desk manager at the Courtyard by Marriott Miami Beach Oceanfront, he quickly rose through the ranks to front office manager, director of operations, and ultimately general manager, demonstrating his expertise in overseeing major renovations, revenue management, and operational excellence. Promoted to area general manager in 2017, he now manages multiple properties including the Hilton Garden Inn, Homewood Suites, and Fairfield Inn & Suites. He played a key role in the 2018 transformation of a Holiday Inn into a Best Western Plus in Sparks, Nevada, and led the development of a dual-branded Marriott and AC Hotel in Dania Pointe from 2019 to 2021. Today, Mr. Lam oversees a portfolio valued at over $65 million, encompassing over 900 rooms and numerous employees.
Beyond his professional achievements, Mr. Lam is deeply committed to civic engagement and industry leadership. He serves as vice president of the Broward Chapter of the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association, a board member of the Greater Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the Greater Fort Lauderdale General Manager’s Council and the City of Dania Beach Chamber of Commerce. His dedication also extends to advisory roles with The Dan Marino Foundation and Gang Alternative Inc., and he volunteers with organizations like Feeding South Florida, the American Lung Association, the American Heart Association, and Habitat for Humanity of Broward.
Passionate about mentoring the next generation of hospitality leaders, Mr. Lam focuses on helping them navigate the challenges and opportunities of the post-COVID era. Outside of work, he enjoys cruises, off-roading, camping, and barbecuing. As a devoted father, he values family time and keeps up with technological advancements to improve both his personal and professional life.
