As the president of Restaurant Consultants Inc. since 1981, he has provided guidance to numerous clients in the foodservice sector. His work in this capacity stands as a testament to his commitment to helping others succeed in their own restaurant ventures, which he considers to be his most notable accomplishment to date. Mr. Spinelli’s exceptional ability to foster thriving businesses has earned him a reputation for excellence and reliability within the industry.
Mr. Spinelli has also found success as a partner and owner of Bolt Burgers + Shakes, a position he has held since 2013, overseeing business growth and brand development. More recently, he has excelled as a concept developer, partner and board member for Mecho’s Dominican Kitchen, where his expertise in development and operational strategy has contributed to the restaurant’s ongoing success since 2018.
From 2016 to 2022, Mr. Spinelli was a concept developer, partner and board member at Ida B’s Table, where he played a pivotal role in shaping the restaurant’s vision and operations. Additionally, he co-founded FranPoint Partners in Annapolis, Maryland, serving as a partner between 2006 and 2018. In this capacity, he contributed to the expansion and strategic direction of multiple hospitality projects. Earlier in his career, Mr. Spinelli excelled in his leadership role as the vice president at The Restaurant Broker from 1994 to 2016, where he facilitated transactions and provided consulting services for restaurant acquisitions and sales.
Mr. Spinelli initially refined his skills through his stellar military service, which includes four years in the U.S. Army Reserve and two years on active duty. This experience with the third team SFG instilled discipline and leadership skills that have informed his approach throughout his civilian career.
Mr. Spinelli is recognized as an expert in the restaurant industry development. To share insights and stay aware of best practices within the field, he is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Potomac Valley, the Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington (RAMW), the National Restaurant Association (NRA) and the Restaurant Association of Maryland (RAM).
In preparation for his future, Mr. Spinelli earned a Bachelor of Arts in architecture from the University of Pittsburgh in 1972. The knowledge gained through his architectural studies has been instrumental in his ability to integrate design, construction and operational efficiency into each project he undertakes. Growing up as the son of Italian immigrants in a culturally diverse neighborhood that allowed him to develop a practical, conversational familiarity with multiple languages through daily community interactions, Mr. Spinelli’s linguistic abilities, including his fluency in Italian, further enhance his capacity to connect with diverse communities within the global hospitality landscape.
Mr. Spinelli attributes much of his success to his diverse background in construction and service-oriented business practices, as well as his willingness to embrace new opportunities. The values instilled by his family have also shaped his work ethic and confidence. Entering the business world at age 24, Mr. Spinelli quickly demonstrated an aptitude for generating significant revenue while building lasting relationships based on trust and high standards.
Outside of work, Mr. Spinelli enjoys an active personal life and is dedicated to supporting his family. Looking ahead, he remains committed to continuing along his current path for as long as his health allows, finding fulfillment in both personal pursuits and professional endeavors.
