Per (Pär) Edin, board director and advisory partner at KPMG, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in artificial intelligence and information technology.
With over three decades of experience to his credit, Mr. Edin has built a distinguished career in artificial intelligence (AI) and information technology, specializing in corporate strategy, AI strategy, and go-to-market initiatives. He currently serves as board committee chair and artificial intelligence leader at KPMG US, a role he has held since 2023. KPMG US offers services in audit, tax, advisory, and technology. They also provide data and analytics, consumer and retail, financial services, healthcare, and transformation services. His prior positions include board director, global lead partner, and deal advisory and strategy leader for corporate clients at KPMG from 2020 to 2022, as well as advisory principal for strategy services and digital at KPMG from 2019 to 2020. Earlier in his career, he held leadership roles such as vice president at Cisco from 2014 to 2016, and senior partner at McKinsey & Company from 2009 to 2014, where he progressed from associate to partner over nearly two decades. Additionally, he served as a satellite engineer for the European Space Agency from 1993 to 1996, and as a visiting lecturer in satellite communications at the International Space University during the same period. He began his professional journey as a staff sergeant in the Swedish Navy’s coastal artillery and marine brigade.
Reflecting on his path, Mr. Edin laid a solid educational foundation, earning a Master of Science in electrical, electronics, and communications engineering from KTH Royal Institute of Technology in 1992. Throughout his career, he has achieved notable milestones, including helping establish and expand KPMG’s U.S. strategy practice to focus on technology, media, and telecom clients, making it the largest segment of the practice. At Cisco, he led global strategy, business development, and operations for the services division, managing a $10–12 billion profit and loss entity. During his tenure at McKinsey, he directed the Nordic tech, media, and telecom practice, co-chaired the firm’s leadership development program, served as dean of McKinsey’s mini-MBA program, and helped launch the firm’s first global sales and channel practice. He has also played a key role in mentoring and developing talent, both within the organizations he has served and through his involvement in leadership development programs. He also dedicates his time to serving on various boards, including the Service League of Boys.
Mr. Edin attributes his success to perseverance, collaboration, and support from others, emphasizing the importance of role-modeling and innovation in fostering winning cultures. Looking to the future, he is committed to guiding businesses and society through the transformative potential of AI. He aims to ensure its responsible and beneficial implementation while fostering stronger collaboration between academia and industry. Recently partnering with Stanford’s Human-Centered AI program, he hopes to bridge gaps between academic research and corporate application. In addition to his professional aspirations, he plans to focus on his family and his passion for neuroscience. He aspires to author a book exploring the brain’s role in transformation and decision-making, addressing why many strategic approaches fail to consider the brain’s complexities.
