Taking a personalized approach to his clients, Mr. Hogan and his team specialize in creating tailored financial services solutions, ranging from investments, retirement planning and insurance to estate planning, tax strategies, small business financial management and more.
Beyond his role at Cornerstone Advisers, Mr. Hogan is an established certified public accountant (CPA) who has owned and operated Hogan & Company CPAs since 1986. Based in Downers Grove, he has provided his clients with various accounting, bookkeeping and taxation services for over 35 years.
Mr. Hogan began his career in accounting as a CPA with another firm for several years before starting his practice. While working with clients, he realized that other advisers had taken advantage of some of them. Consequently, Mr. Hogan decided to step into the financial services industry and, after obtaining his license, worked as an investment adviser representative at Genworth Financial Advisers Corporation in Schaumburg, Illinois, from 1998 to 2012 before joining Cornerstone Advisers.
A University of Illinois Chicago graduate, Mr. Hogan received a Bachelor of Science in accounting in 1982. He also received professional credentials as a certified public accountant and as a certified financial planner through the College for Financial Planning. Beyond his educational background, Mr. Hogan has remained at the forefront of his industry as a member of the Illinois CPA Society and the Financial Planning Association.
Mr. Hogan’s decision to pursue accounting stemmed from his high school years when he was offered an opportunity to work for his friend’s father, an accountant, who sought help in his office. Despite his initial plan to drive a truck like his father, Mr. Hogan chose the office position. As a result, he developed a passion for the field and decided to pursue the field in college.
As a dedicated member of his community, Mr. Hogan has been active as a financial committee member for the Village of Lombard. He has also served as the treasurer of the Lombard Chamber of Commerce and Industry and as a board member and treasurer of the Tri-Town YMCA. Mr. Hogan draws significant satisfaction by giving back through civic initiatives.
Throughout his career in both fields, Mr. Hogan has focused heavily on establishing honest communication with his clients, which has been the cornerstone of his success. He thoroughly enjoys getting to know them personally and helping them discover what financial solutions work best for their unique needs.
In light of his accomplishments, Mr. Hogan was named a Top Advisor in Chicago for nine consecutive years. He attributes his professional success to being dependable, trustworthy and transparent with all his clients. Looking toward the future, Mr. Hogan has a five-year plan to retire from the tax business but continue engaging in financial services for a few more years.
