Among his previous ventures, Dr. Kim was a senior director at Boeing Defense, Space & Security in Seoul, South Korea, from 2013 to 2023. During this decade-long tenure, he played a pivotal role in enhancing Boeing’s defense capabilities and expanding its footprint in Asia. Among a range of responsibilities, Dr. Kim was the managing director of the Phantom Works Global Center in Korea. He also engaged in new business initiatives and conducted cost-effective and life-cycle analysis. Dr. Kim’s expertise in leading analysis and modeling & simulation projects for global markets was instrumental in his success.
Dr. Kim’s career is deeply rooted in his extensive military service. He served as the director of the modeling and simulation division at the Korea Institute for Defense Analysis between 2006 and 2013. In this capacity, he was instrumental in establishing the C4ISR analysis laboratory and developing systems that encompassed command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, and other capabilities for the military. Dr. Kim’s earlier service as a colonel in the Republic of Korea Army from 1984 to 2006 laid a strong foundation for his expertise in defense strategies and technologies.
Possessing a rich academic background, Dr. Kim’s credentials include receiving a Bachelor of Science in physics from the Korea Military Academy in 1984, a Master of Science degree in computer science from the Naval Postgraduate School in 1988, and a Doctor of Philosophy in computer science from the University of Florida in 2002. These academic achievements have been crucial to his success, providing him with a robust foundation in scientific principles and technological innovation.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Dr. Kim is certified to teach the Korean language, reflecting his commitment to education and cultural exchange.
