Richard Cubbage Jr., Senior Director of Quality Operations at Bracco and Founder at Ellie Mental Health, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements and leadership in the Pharmaceutical Manufacturing.
Mr. Cubbage has established a distinguished career in the pharmaceutical and mental health sectors, marked by nearly three decades of progressive leadership and expertise. He is currently the founder of Ellie Mental Health in Havertown, Pennsylvania, a venture he launched in 2024 after personally experiencing the challenges of accessing quality mental health care for his daughter. Recognizing a significant gap in community resources, Mr. Cubbage seized the opportunity to open an outpatient clinic under a national franchise, assembling a team of eight therapists with plans for further expansion. The clinic celebrated its first anniversary in July 2025, reflecting Mr. Cubbage’s commitment to providing accessible mental health services and supporting both clients and staff.
In addition to his entrepreneurial endeavors, Mr. Cubbage serves as a senior director of quality operations at Bracco in Monroe, New Jersey, a role he has held since 2021. In this capacity, he oversees the production of contrast media, manages risk identification and mitigation related to manufacturing, and leads qualification activities for new processes and changes. His responsibilities also include ensuring cohesive team operations, identifying opportunities for process improvement and acting as the primary liaison with contract manufacturers. Mr. Cubbage’s focus on daily problem-solving and regulatory compliance has been instrumental in maintaining high standards within the organization.
Employed by Bracco since 2013, Mr. Cubbage began as senior manager of quality operations. Between 2016 and 2021, he served as the director of quality operations, where he led teams through numerous product launches and technology transfers that enabled the company to meet business needs effectively and in compliance. Established nearly a century ago, Bracco is recognized as a leader in precision imaging, providing the health care industry with advanced imaging solutions.
Before joining Bracco, Mr. Cubbage served as the quality assurance manager for external manufacturing at McNeil Consumer Healthcare from 2011 to 2013. In this role, he supported the production of new and transferred over-the-counter drugs, as well as product transfers and process improvement teams. Earlier, Mr. Cubbage gained experience as a quality assurance manager for external operations at Auxilium Pharmaceuticals between 2008 and 2011, ensuring compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) standards at contract manufacturing organizations.
During the first decade of Mr. Cubbage’s career, he successfully progressed through various roles, starting with VAQTA and Merck & Company Inc. as a supervisor. He then became a quality associate II at Centorcor, a quality specialist and quality assurance specialist for global biologics supply chain management at Johnson & Johnson, and finally a senior quality assurance specialist at Alkermes. Throughout these roles, Mr. Cubbage developed skills and expertise that have defined his professional journey.
Mr. Cubbage played collegiate football before earning a Bachelor of Science in microbiology from West Chester University in West Chester, Pennsylvania, in 1997. As a member of the Pharmaceutical Drug Association, he continues to remain at the forefront of his industry. Beyond his professional commitments, Mr. Cubbage is civically engaged as a volunteer and sponsor with Ellie Mental Health and supports charitable organizations, such as Goodwill and the PA Environment.
In recognition of his contributions, Mr. Cubbage received numerous Excellence Awards between 2021 and 2024. Looking ahead, he intends to continue developing his leadership role within the pharmaceutical industry while expanding access to mental health care through the establishment of additional clinics. Mr. Cubbage also aims to enjoy life fully by traveling with his children and appreciating the rewards of hard work alongside his dedicated team.
