Company:
Springboard Hospitality
Location:
Honolulu, Hawaii, United States

Roger Wada, regional director of revenue management at Springboard Hospitality, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in hospitality.

Building off of his lifelong aptitude for math, Mr. Wada initially pursued a professional life in civil engineering with a dual major in Japanese. As part of his Japanese major, he took on an internship as a concierge at Kyo-ya Hotels & Resorts beginning in 2005. To Mr. Wada’s surprise, he discovered a true passion for working in hospitality. Despite mixed reactions from his parents, he decided to drop his engineering aspirations and focus on building a 20-year career in this new direction.

Following these foundational experiences, Mr. Wada contributed as a cruise director manager at Paradise Cruise Inc. and a reservations agent and assistant reservations manager at The Kahala Hotel & Resort. In 2010, he began a four-year association with the Outrigger Enterprises Group, first joining the company as a guest service agent. It was during this time that Mr. Wada was able to reconnect to his skill with math, eventually being promoted to the roles of complex revenue manager and director of revenue management. After eight years focused on hotel operations, he would now begin a second phase of his hospitality career centered around revenue management.

Across the last decade, Mr. Wada has fulfilled such roles as corporate revenue manager at Aqua-Aston Hospitality; director of revenue management at Highgate and Kokua Hospitality LLC; complex director of revenue management and area director of revenue and distribution at Highgate; and area director of revenue optimization at Elevat3. Since 2022 he has served as the regional director of revenue management at Springboard Hospitality, a group that manages nearly 50 hotels across 13 states and has been recognized as a Top 25 Hotel Management Company. Mr. Wada oversees around four to five hotels at any given time, as he is generally assigned to underperforming properties and helps turn them around. His day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring bookings, adjusting rates, collaborating with property teams in weekly meetings and managing owner relationships, as well as conducting market research to support the acquisition of new properties.

Prior to embarking upon this professional journey, Mr. Wada sought a strong education he could draw on throughout his life. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Japanese from the University of Hawai’i at Manoa in 2008. Committed to continuous self-improvement, Mr. Wada has furthered his credentials through professional training programs. Most notably, he has obtained certification in hotel real estate investments and asset management through Cornell University’s online eCornell system.

Noted for his achievements in the field, Mr. Wada has been celebrated in many capacities. He has been named Manager of the Quarter multiple times throughout his career and was named Commercial Professional of the Year in 2025. When considering the greatest highlight of his professional life, Mr. Wada points to his time working at the Courtyard by Marriott Waikiki Beach hotel in 205 and 2016. He aided this location as it was struggling and in need of renovations, and it’s the first time in his journey where he felt like his efforts were really being noticed and appreciated on a wider level.

Beyond his primary vocation, Mr. Wada enjoys an active lifestyle, filling his days with such activities as golf, basketball and running marathons. Bringing that same energy to his professional life, he looks forward to continued growth, with a personal goal of becoming a vice president and managing an entire revenue department. Looking even further down the line, Mr. Wada hopes to one day become a chief revenue officer and help significantly grow a company. He also intends to devote more energy to mentoring younger professionals in the industry, sharing the lessons he’s learned across his extensive work history.
