Astra Wealth Management Group LLC

Andy Evans, Partner and President of Wealth Management at Astra Wealth Management Group LLC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements and leadership in the Finance Industry.

Having established a successful career spanning more than three decades, Mr. Evans is recognized as an expert in high-level investment management, client relationship management and talent development and mentorship. In 2019, he co-founded Astra Wealth Management Group LLC alongside several colleagues who shared his vision for delivering comprehensive financial guidance. As both a partner and president of wealth management, Mr. Evans oversees daily operations that include monitoring global markets and economic trends, evaluating investment opportunities and conducting regular meetings with clients to provide tailored financial planning, investment guidance and estate planning services.

The firm’s multigenerational approach is reflected not only in its client base but also within its leadership. Mr. Evans’s father, a stockbroker, contributed his expertise during the firm’s early years and was the one to introduce him to the industry. Notably, Mr. Evans’s son now works alongside him, continuing the family’s involvement in wealth management.

From 2019 to 2021, Mr. Evans also served as the director at Evans Hawkins Darden Wealth Partners. Throughout these years working in both capacities, he has prioritized building long-term relationships with clients and their families, often serving multiple generations as an extension of their family’s financial legacy.

Mr. Evans launched his career as a stockbroker at PaineWebber in 1990. In this formative role, he gained firsthand experience with the intricacies of financial markets and client service. In 1994, he joined Dean Witter (now Morgan Stanley) as a vice president and financial adviser, serving until 2002. This period marked a significant evolution in Mr. Evans’s approach to client relationships and comprehensive financial planning.

From 2002 to 2011, Mr. Evans held the position of vice president of investments at Royal Bank of Canada. During his tenure, he continued to refine his expertise in investment management while expanding his understanding of global markets. In 2011, he transitioned to Wells Fargo Advisors as a vice president of investments with Wells Fargo Clearing Services LLC before advancing to senior vice president and investment officer for another five years, until 2019. While at Wells Fargo Advisors, Mr. Evans encountered limitations common in large financial institutions, where advisers were often restricted from offering holistic advice or coordinating with outside professionals, such as certified public accountants or attorneys, unless those activities directly benefited the firm. These constraints motivated him to seek a more client-centric model.

Mr. Evans began his professional journey after earning a Bachelor of Science in economics from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, in 1989. During his time at university, he interned at PaineWebber, where he discovered a passion for the financial services sector. This early exposure provided invaluable insight and mentorship that would shape the foundation of his future, launching his career as a stockbroker.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Mr. Evans is actively engaged with civic organizations and charitable initiatives. He volunteers with local nonprofits, supports St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and participates in food bank efforts several times each year. These activities reflect his commitment to giving back to the community and supporting causes that align with his values.

A defining moment in Mr. Evans’ career came in 2000 when he adopted a fee-based advisory platform well ahead of industry trends. Recognizing that traditional stockbroking did not fully address clients’ needs for long-term wealth accumulation and estate planning, he shifted focus toward becoming a trusted adviser involved in every aspect of clients’ financial lives. Today, Mr. Evans emphasizes the importance of helping families prepare for major milestones, such as retirement or funding higher education, while ensuring assets are transferred according to their wishes through collaboration with attorneys and certified public accountants.

Mr. Evans’s commitment to excellence is evidenced by his recognition as a Five Star Wealth Managers Award recipient since 2012 and being named among the Top Three Percent of All Advisers by Five Star Wealth Managers for 15 consecutive years. He has also been honored as a Top Advisor by Forbes Media LLC for five years and was featured as One of 16 Top Professionals in The Wall Street Journal. Mr. Evans’s professional philosophy centers on attention to detail and consistency, qualities he credits for maintaining a client retention rate exceeding 95%. Clients typically remain with him unless circumstances, such as relocation, prevent ongoing engagement. Referrals from satisfied clients have played a crucial role in growing his practice based on trust and enduring relationships.

Looking ahead, Mr. Evans aims to establish Astra Wealth Management Group LLC as a lasting institution within the finance industry rather than simply a practice defined by its current leadership team. With six partners averaging more than 25 years of experience, including several with over 40 years, the firm is dedicated to mentoring younger advisers who will carry forward its legacy of comprehensive service and innovation. As part of this transition, Mr. Evans expects to devote increasing attention to mentorship and knowledge transfer while continuing to expand service offerings in response to evolving client needs.

Mr. Evans’s distinguished career stands as a testament to the value of expertise in high-level investment management, client relationship management and mentorship within the finance sector, qualities that have earned him recognition among industry leaders and lasting trust from generations of clients. For those considering a similar path in finance, he advises focusing on people rather than numbers alone, emphasizing empathy for clients’ goals and concerns while recognizing the profound responsibility entrusted to advisers managing family wealth.
