Mr. Macau’s professional journey spans more than two decades across the information technology (IT) and project management services sectors. In 2023, he joined Sensata Technologies, Inc., as a senior IT project manager. He oversees strategic IT infrastructure projects with cross-functional teams based in China and India. Mr. Macau’s responsibilities include project planning, vendor management and process optimization within enterprise environments. Notably, he revamped the IT PMO organization’s structure and project lifecycle processes from both infrastructure and application perspectives. This role allows him to split his time between office-based collaboration and remote work while also dedicating significant effort to his real estate ventures.
In 2025, Mr. Macau also became the founder and managing partner of Forest Estate, LLC, where he leads a real estate investor group focused on disciplined investing through conservative underwriting, operational efficiency and long-term wealth-building principles. In this capacity, he manages acquisition analysis, property management oversight and value-add repositioning strategies throughout Southern New England. Mr. Macau’s efforts have resulted in the ownership and management of nine residential units across three properties under his personal LLCs. He is committed to expanding his portfolio into larger commercial properties while maintaining a hands-on approach to renovations and tenant relations.
Before his current positions, Mr. Macau held several key roles at CGI Inc., a global information technology consulting firm. From 2021 to 2023, he served as the director of consulting delivery and ISO for Fidelity Investments in Boston, Massachusetts. During this period, he improved service delivery actions at the initial stages of client engagement by automating financial and governance reporting as well as team management documentation. Mr. Macau also streamlined status reporting processes for internal teams and clients while implementing quarterly security audit assessments that consistently achieved perfect results.
Earlier in 2021, Mr. Macau was a director of consulting expert at SNC-Lavalin in Montreal, Canada. There, he significantly enhanced Project Management Office (PMO) management service delivery by improving project flow timelines, refreshing the project delivery lifecycle and implementing hybrid methodologies for fast execution on select projects. These efforts increased PMO project revenue between 10-25% within the first quarter of 2021.
Earlier, from 2019 to 2021, Mr. Macau served as the PMO portfolio manager at SNC-Lavalin in Montreal. In this milestone role, his proudest career achievement, he was entrusted with overseeing a portfolio valued at $100 million annually after only a year and a half as a junior project manager. Responsible for leading a team of 12 project managers, two proposal writers and two project control officers, Mr. Macau demonstrated exceptional organizational skills and earned the confidence of his vice president and director. He first worked as an IT project manager for PM2 at SNC-Lavalin in Canada in 2017.
From 2013 to 2015, Mr. Macau was a senior Wintel systems administrator on the project team for John Hancock at CGI Inc., where he played a key role in system administration initiatives supporting business continuity. Before relocating to Canada, he worked as a Windows systems administrator for Control Bridge – EDP at CGI Inc. in Lisbon, Portugal, from 2008 to 2013, following roles as a technical systems operator for EDP at CGI Inc. between 2006 and 2008 and as a consultant at CGI Inc., starting in 2005.
Mr. Macau’s academic background included undergraduate coursework in electronics and computer science from Technology Superior School Setúbal in Portugal after acquiring a post-high school level four diploma in electronics from Professional School Setúbal in Portugal. He also holds numerous industry credentials, including certified solutions associate and certified solutions expert certifications from Microsoft, as well as a consulting certificate from McGill Executive Institute at McGill University and a project management professional designation from the Project Management Institute. Each credential has contributed to Mr. Macau’s ability to lead complex projects across diverse business environments.
Among Mr. Macau’s professional memberships, he is affiliated with REI Capital Accelerator and REI BoardRoom, organizations dedicated to commercial real estate investment, where he collaborates with other investors on large-scale acquisitions such as apartment buildings. His civic involvement includes volunteering for company-sponsored charity events through Sensata Technologies, such as activities at local girls’ schools and food banks, and participating annually in black tier charity events that support community needs.
Throughout his career, Mr. Macau has developed expertise in cross-functional collaboration, vendor management, agile methodology, IT program management, team building and leadership, and much more. He is also recognized for his skills in information security, risk mitigation, client delivery management and real estate negotiations. In light of his hard work, Mr. Macau has received recognition through BRAVO internal awards at CGI Inc., along with selection for executive training programs where he earned additional accolades.
Mr. Macau attributes much of his success to an unwavering willingness to step outside his comfort zone, a trait shaped by formative experiences moving from Portugal to Canada without knowing the language or having local support networks, and later relocating again to Boston with his family. This adaptability is reinforced by guidance from influential mentors and teachings of others who have shaped and influenced his approach to business within both IT and real estate.
Looking ahead, Mr. Macau plans to transition fully into commercial real estate while building a robust property management structure supported by knowledgeable professionals, such as certified public accountants. His vision includes overseeing more than 100 units valued at around $50 million in assets while continuing to provide quality housing solutions. Mr. Macau encourages others entering these industries not to let fear hold them back but instead embrace challenges early on.
