Over the past decade, Mr. Kern has garnered extensive professional experience spanning artificial intelligence (AI), systems engineering, prototyping and data science, becoming recognized as an expert in his field. Since 2026, he has led Olorin Advisory Group in Washington, D.C., where he works on the technical side of the business, focusing on AI and developing tools, prototypes and software for clients. Mr. Kern’s responsibilities include meeting with clients to better understand government interests, refining project goals and ensuring the delivery of needed solutions. Additionally, he actively seeks new opportunities to expand the business. Mr. Kern’s expertise in integrating AI into legacy government systems and modernizing those systems with automation has positioned him at the forefront of technological innovation in the public sector.
Before founding Olorin Advisory Group, Mr. Kern served as a systems engineer with Woven Solutions, a solutions engineering company headquartered in Virginia, from 2025 to 2026. In this role, he contributed his technical acumen to various consultancy projects involving government clients. Mr. Kern’s earlier experience as a data analyst at InPursuit LLC, a company that specializes in engineering and operations consulting, in 2023 was also influential in honing his analytical skills and deepening his understanding of data-driven decision-making.
Mr. Kern’s career began with hands-on service roles that shaped his perspective on work and responsibility. At age 19, he held various odd jobs across the service industry, in sales, hospitality and construction sectors. In his early 20s, Mr. Kern traveled across the U.S. seeking direction before joining a fire department as a volunteer. This formative experience inspired him to pursue training as a medic.
From 2015 to 2017, Mr. Kern worked as a medical technician for Acadian Ambulance Service in Louisiana on a critical care truck during night shifts. He regards this period as one of his most meaningful professional experiences. The tangible results of his efforts, such as administering life-saving treatments to patients in crisis, left an indelible mark on him. Mr. Kern recalls moments like stabilizing diabetic patients and reversing overdoses with Narcan as profoundly rewarding because they provided immediate evidence of positive impact.
In 2017, Mr. Kern joined the U.S. Navy as a senior analyst, following in the footsteps of his military family. Over more than five years of service until 2023, he worked as an intelligence specialist for the U.S. government. Notably, his tenure included three years with an interagency group in Northern Virginia and two years deployed overseas in Manama, Bahrain. During this time, Mr. Kern played a significant role in supporting evacuees during the Afghanistan withdrawal by helping provide necessities and safe shelter for those at risk due to their cooperation with the U.S. government. After returning to Virginia and receiving an honorable discharge from military service, Mr. Kern transitioned to civilian life.
Following his military career and after welcoming his first child with his spouse, Mr. Kern became a stay-at-home father, a role he considers his greatest personal achievement. Later, he re-entered the workforce in systems engineering before launching Olorin Advisory Group.
Mr. Kern’s educational background included earning a high school diploma in his hometown of New Orleans, Louisiana. While he did not pursue higher academic degrees, he attributes much of his practical knowledge and adaptability to his military background, early experiences in diverse industries and continuous self-education through reading technical manuals and literature on history, philosophy and psychology.
A passion for solving complex problems continues to motivate Mr. Kern professionally. He relishes connecting real-world issues faced by governments or companies with creative technical solutions that require autonomy and ingenuity. This drive allows Mr. Kern to dedicate long hours to developing innovative approaches that address difficult challenges, a quality that continues to define his work today.
For his time serving in the U.S. Navy, Mr. Kern was decorated with several medals acknowledging his distinguished service. He credits much of his success to persistence rather than simple hard work. He emphasizes resilience, the willingness to fail repeatedly yet continue moving forward, as central to his achievements. Mr. Kern’s strong work ethic and ability to focus deeply have enabled him to outwork peers and maintain consistent effort toward ambitious goals. Mentorship has also played a pivotal role throughout his journey. He acknowledges that having mentors at every stage has been indispensable for growth and access to broader networks and wisdom.
Looking ahead, Mr. Kern’s aims to become more integrated into his local community by participating in activities such as managing bridle trails, engaging with local government initiatives or joining organizations like his local chamber of commerce or Knights of Columbus that contribute positively to society. Charity work remains especially important to him. Additionally, Mr. Kern hopes someday to live abroad again so that his children can experience different cultures firsthand. Throughout each phase of life, he has demonstrated unwavering resilience and commitment both professionally and personally while remaining guided by mentorship and a passion for meaningful problem-solving that benefits others directly or indirectly through technology-driven solutions.
