Jerry Bell, Captain of the Columbus Fire Department has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in public service.
A retired veteran, Mr. Bell previously served as a combat engineer in the U.S. Army between 1967 and 1970. When Mr. Bell returned from the war, he wanted to work in the factories. He accepted his first position at R.N. Industries, where he assisted in the creation of automotive parts. After working with the company for 5 years, he joined Cummins but was laid off after a year. Mr. Bell then joined the Columbus Fire Department, where he achieved the rank of a captain for more than three decades. In the past, he excelled as a firefighter and paramedic with the United States Sportsmen’s Alliance, where he later completed coursework in fire science and became designated as a master firefighter through the National Fire Academy.
In an effort to remain aware of changes in the field, Mr. Bell maintains professional relationships with the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Disabled American Veterans. In honor of his bravery in the military, he was presented with a Bronze Star for Heroism. Looking toward the future, Mr. Bell intends to enjoy his well-deserved retirement. He would like to be remembered as a man who was dedicated to providing a positive example for the youth.
