James O. Sharp, a loss control inspector, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of loss control and risk management.
Hailing from more than five decades of experience in his chosen field, Mr. Sharp has distinguished himself as a self-employed loss control inspector since 2015. In this capacity, through which he specializes in the interpretation and handling of insurance line policies and coverages, he offers his services as a consultant on behalf of various client companies. Prior to working in his current role, Mr. Sharp worked as the director of sales and marketing at Gateway Insurance Agency LC, where he was responsible for planning and implementing sales and marketing efforts for one of the largest insurance agencies in Southeast Florida, as well as parlaying his knowledge to less-experienced agents as a mentor.
Having long harbored a fascination with the concept of selling an intangible product, Mr. Sharp noted throughout the course of his early career that many insurance agents could hardly explain what they were selling to their intended clients. Finding that if he could learn just a bit more than his competition, he could count on the enduring loyalty of his clients and greater sales volume. To this end, he has become extensively well-credentialed in his field, earning designations as a certified insurance counselor, an accredited advisor in insurance, an associate in risk management, a certified identity theft risk management specialist, a construction risk and insurance specialist, a management liability insurance specialist and a licensed community association manager. Furthermore, to remain aware of developments in the field, Mr. Sharp maintains his membership with such organizations as the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America and the National Alliance for Insurance Education and Research.
Among his most cherished accomplishments, Mr. Sharp is particularly gratified to have taught over 250 people regarding the field of property and casualty insurance. With only one exception, all of his students have gone on to pass their state-level exams on the first try. For this, and many other achievements, he was lauded as the Insurance Producer of the Year, the Underwriter of the Year and the Claims Adjuster of the Year in Charleston, West Virginia.
