Reflecting on his path, he takes great pride in his involvement with their partner company, which has been a key player in large projects, particularly with the Latter Day Saints Church. His deep love for plant life and his unique ability to “communicate” with plants to understand their needs have earned him the nickname “Plant Whisperer.” In 2021, he was honored as the Certified Arborist of the Year in Utah by the International Society of Arboriculture.
In advising aspiring professionals, Mr. Laws emphasizes the importance of patience, comparing a garden’s growth to the journey of life. He stresses that growth happens at its own pace, and while we might be tempted to push ahead, it’s essential to understand that things will unfold in their own time. He also encourages patience with oneself, noting that the only true control we have is over our own feelings, behaviors, and reactions. He draws a parallel to plants, observing how they respond to their environment and neighbors, often reacting quickly to unfavorable conditions. He advises learning from these natural lessons, reflecting on history, and striving for continuous improvement.
