In this position, he supervises the entire accounting department while simultaneously managing accounts payable and receivable, ensuring accurate payroll operations, publishing income statements and balance sheets, and maintaining the integrity of financial statements. Prior to his present role, he was active as the assistant corporate controller at Orion Marine Group from 2006 to 2011, a U.S. tubular services controller at National Oilwell Varco from 2011 to 2016, the hemisphere controller at NOV Inc., formerly National Oilwell Varco, from 2016 to 2017, a corporate controller at LAACO Ltd. from 2017 to 2022, and the interim chief financial officer at LAACO Ltd. from 2022 to 2024. Mr. Cox began his career as an accountant with Avnet from 1994 to 2001 before working as a financial analyst at Stewart & Stevenson from 2001 to 2004 and as a plant controller at Cameron International Corporation from 2004 to 2006.
Before embarking upon his professional path, Mr. Cox proudly served in the 160th Infantry Regiment in the 2nd Battalion of the Army Medical Department Regiment of the California Army National Guard between 1988 and 1994. As a result of his exceptional service, he was presented with the National Defense Service Medal. To support his ambitions within his field, he pursued an education at California State University, Los Angeles, from which he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in business and accounting in 1994. Mr. Cox further built upon his expertise by completing the National Oilwell Executive Finance Course at Rice Business – Jones Graduate School of Business.
Mr. Cox attributes much of his success to his solid educational background and his unwavering drive to solve complex problems. Beyond his primary endeavors, he is an accomplished author as well, having published “AI Newmind: The Brain Chip Chronicles” in 2024 during a sabbatical that allowed him to focus on writing without work-related distractions. Among his most notable achievements, he cites obtaining his certified public accountant (CPA) license as his proudest achievement.
