He became a certified health care business consultant, working with high-net-worth individuals, physicians, and dentists. After relocating to Austin, Texas, where his wife resided, he spent two years at a CPA firm. He then acquired B&H Tax Service in January 2022 and Akamai Tax Service in Honolulu, Hawaii, in January 2023. Both practices now operate under Dakine Consulting Inc.
Reflecting on his career, Mr. Imel attributes his success to early exposure to complex tax cases, including those involving major investments, rental properties, and high-level business returns. He emphasizes the value of the accounting field, highlighting the significant demand for skilled professionals and the job security it offers. He also notes the field’s flexibility, pointing out that while he specializes in tax accounting, there are numerous paths in areas such as investments, law, auditing, and business consulting. He encourages younger generations to explore their passions within the accounting and financial industries, noting that degrees in accounting, finance, or business administration can unlock a wide range of career possibilities.
