Christine Mie Colvis, PhD, Director of the Office of Drug Development Partnership Programs at the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Public Health.

Dr. Colvis is a seasoned public health professional who joined the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) in 2012 as the director of drug development partnership programs. Partnering with pharmaceutical companies and academic researchers on drug development, her role encompasses advancing technologies to facilitate progress. These technologies include computational tools, analytical instruments and laboratory equipment. Before joining the NCATS, Dr. Colvis was the director of program integration at the National Institute on Drug Abuse for several years and served as the institute’s program director.

In preparation for her future in this sector, Dr. Colvis received a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry from Benedictine University and a Doctor of Philosophy in biochemistry and molecular biology from Oregon Health & Science University. Adding to her expertise, she completed postdoctoral research at the National Eye Institute. Dr. Colvis remains active as a committee member for the Drug Information Association, where she has been instrumental in providing her expertise, and on the board of advisors for The Universities at Shady Grove.

Throughout her career, Dr. Colvis was involved in creating the Biomedical Data Translator program in 2016, which is still in operation today. The program aggregates data from numerous knowledge sources and databases, including a broad spectrum from clinical information to molecular-level genetic data. Dr. Colvis was also recognized with a Charles A. Sanders MD Partnership Award from the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health in 2021. She credits her success to having outstanding mentors and her significant translational science and science administration expertise. Among various ambitious goals, she aims to positively impact the ecosystem, revolutionize the utilization and communication of scientific knowledge among her peers, and develop innovative strategies for repurposing drugs.
