Mr. Dang is a seasoned professional with over 20 years of experience in corporate accounting and finance. Currently serving as the controller at AlerisLife, he is pivotal in handling the accounting aspects of decision-making, financial statement reporting and financial analysis. He reports directly to the chief executive officer and is a finance partner in acquiring new communities, divesting certain communities and forecasting cash flow. Mr. Dang’s responsibilities also include overseeing accounts receivable, billing, collections and new business practices, such as revenue management. Additionally, he leads a team of 30 accountants, manages cash flow, assists with debt management and participates in financing discussions on community ownership while being heavily involved in capital planning.

Before joining AlerisLife in 2024, Mr. Dang was the head of forecast and attribution at MassMutual in Boston from 2018 to 2024. During his tenure there, he was influential in leading the financial aspects of the company, including throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Mr. Dang initially started as the controller for AlerisLife’s subsidiaries, where he was responsible for accounting and signing off on financial results. Later, he took over the forecasting process and joined a general ledger upgrade project, managing the reporting workstream for a year.
Between 2013 and 2018, Mr. Dang held the leading role of vice president of finance at Global Atlantic Financial Group in Brighton, Massachusetts. He previously served as an assistant vice president at Goldman Sachs Reinsurance Group in Boston from 2006 to 2013 and as a senior internal auditor at Liberty Mutual in Boston between 2005 and 2006. Mr. Dang’s career began at PwC in Boston as a senior associate in 2001, where he garnered experience leading audit teams to meet and exceed client demands across various sectors, including health care, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals.
Mr. Dang’s educational background has been instrumental in his professional success. He holds a Bachelor of Science in accounting, economics and business from Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts. He subsequently received a Master of Business Administration in finance from Boston University in 2013. This advanced degree was pursued following encouragement from a mentor during his early career as a staff accountant. Moreover, Mr. Dang has become highly qualified as a certified public accountant.
Throughout his career, Mr. Dang has demonstrated expertise in corporate accounting and finance, earning him membership in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. In addition to his professional affiliations, he is actively involved in civic organizations. He serves as a board member for Lexington Little League and is a commissioner for the Senior Girls League. Mr. Dang also enjoys playing softball in a local league.
As Mr. Dang looks toward future opportunities, he aims to continue growing AlerisLife as it continues its recovery from the impacts of the pandemic. He hopes to make the company truly successful while taking on additional responsibilities that will enable him to make a bigger impact. Ultimately aspiring to become a chief financial officer someday, Mr. Dang seeks to leverage his extensive experience in accounting and finance to prove himself in both areas within the next few years.
