Dr. Weston has established a distinguished career in technology and research, currently serving as the global vice president of Kyndryl Consult at Kyndryl Inc. in Raleigh, North Carolina, since 2025. In this capacity, she collaborates with every functional area of the company, including finance, sales, development and marketing. Her responsibilities encompass branding, pricing and development initiatives, as well as engaging with alliance partners and external stakeholders such as customers and industry collaborators. Dr. Weston’s leadership is instrumental in aligning advanced technologies, particularly artificial intelligence (AI), with industry-specific challenges to deliver responsible innovation and tangible value for clients.
From 2021 to 2025, Dr. Weston held the position of vice president of security and Resiliency at Kyndryl. Since joining the organization, she has played a pivotal role in developing new portfolios from scratch following the spin-off from IBM. She also led efforts to rapidly build and scale capabilities across Kyndryl, focusing on cyber resilience, a field she is deeply passionate about due to its growing importance in an era marked by increasing cyber threats.
Before her tenure at Kyndryl, Dr. Weston excelled in her leading position as the director of business resiliency services at IBM from 2016 to 2021. Between 2014 and 2015, she was recognized as the worldwide channel sales leader for IBM storage software. Dr. Weston simultaneously served as the global offering portfolio leader for IBM storage from 2009 to 2015, responsible for introducing new products and offerings to market.
Among other significant positions during her tenure at IBM, Dr. Weston began as a research staff member from 2001 to 2007. It was during this formative period that she achieved one of her most significant professional milestones, which included leading a team that introduced the first replacement for silicon in transistors, high-K metal gate technology. This breakthrough enabled the proliferation of handheld computing devices by resolving performance degradation issues associated with traditional silicon-based transistors. The innovation allowed high-compute devices to operate efficiently on batteries for the first time, catalyzing the widespread adoption of smartphones, set-top boxes and lightweight laptops globally.
Dr. Weston’s academic foundation includes a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from Temple University in Philadelphia. She also acquired a Doctor of Philosophy in chemistry from Colorado State University in Fort Collins in 2000.
Beyond her degrees, Dr. Weston is an active member of several professional organizations, including Women We Admire and the American Vacuum Society. She is also involved with Women in STEAM initiatives and dedicates significant time to volunteer work with grade school and high school students, encouraging them to pursue careers in science, technology and mathematics. Dr. Weston’s commitment to mentoring underrepresented minorities and women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics has been a driving force throughout her life.
Throughout her career, Dr. Weston has been recognized for her inventive contributions, holding 45 U.S. patents related to materials chemistry, microelectronics and data protection technologies. Her achievements have been recognized with numerous awards, beginning with the American Vacuum Society Award in 2000 for her pioneering work in high vacuum systems. She also received two IBM Research Division Awards, the Women We Admire Award, and the Founders Award from Kyndryl.
Dr. Weston remains committed to continuous learning and growth within her field. Having recently transitioned into consulting with a focus on data and AI at Kyndryl Consult, she aims to further expand her expertise while driving impactful technological advancements.
