Mr. Krishnan’s distinguished career spans continents and industries, marked by innovation, leadership and a commitment to community betterment. Since 2007, he has served as the president of TeamUpCorp, guiding the organization through nearly two decades of growth and transformation. Under Mr. Krishnan’s stewardship, TeamUpCorp has expanded its reach across Asia, Africa, Europe and North America, with business dealings extending into South America. His global perspective is informed by direct operational experience in approximately a dozen countries, where he has established businesses and managed diverse teams.
Before his tenure at TeamUpCorp, Mr. Krishnan built a formidable foundation in retail management and distribution. He began his professional journey in India as a regional manager for a major shoe company, overseeing half of the company’s retail stores. Mr. Krishnan’s leadership was soon recognized, leading to his appointment as the manager of planning and distribution when he relocated to Africa. In this capacity, he played a pivotal role in expanding operations and optimizing supply chains across multiple African nations.
Highly educated, Mr. Krishnan earned a bachelor’s degree in botany and zoology in 1976 and a second bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Mysore in 1978. Additionally, he received a Master of Business Administration from the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore in 1981.
During his career, Mr. Krishnan has delivered keynote addresses at global conferences in Dubai and Las Vegas. His dedication has extended beyond his professional endeavors into significant civic and academic engagement. He is an active member of the Rotary Club of Herndon-Reston and the Reston Lions Club. He has also held roles with prominent health organizations, including serving on the advisory board of Sankara Eye Foundation USA, the world’s largest nonprofit eye care organization, where he supports efforts that have provided hundreds of thousands of free eye surgeries annually in India. Additionally, Mr. Krishnan contributes as a member of the dean’s advisory board at Boston University, sits on the board of trustees for the University of North America, and holds the position of president at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology.
A hallmark of Mr. Krishnan’s early career was his pioneering work in customer engagement. As a graduate student in India, he launched the country’s first customer loyalty program in December 1978, well before the concept gained global traction. The initiative, centered around the Carona Stamp Collectors Club, incentivized shoe purchases by offering children memberships that included educational materials and access to workshops. Within four years, the program had become the world’s largest selective club of its kind, with over 26,000 members nationwide, at a time when communication relied solely on traditional mail. This innovative approach not only fostered brand loyalty but also promoted educational enrichment among youth.
Mr. Krishnan’s expertise and thought leadership have been recognized by industry organizations such as CXO and Central Consultation Management. He credits his success to humility, gratitude and the guidance of exceptional mentors he has encountered throughout his life, from his grandfather’s community-oriented example during childhood to influential teachers and employers whose diverse backgrounds have enriched his perspective.
Eager for the future, Mr. Krishnan’s forward-thinking vision continues with the development of the Student Peer Tutoring Program, a technology-driven initiative designed to foster collaborative learning among students from middle school through college. By leveraging artificial intelligence solutions for online assessments and peer group interactions, Mr. Krishnan aims to empower millions of students worldwide through student learning clubs that focus on both academic achievement and personal well-being.
