His efforts have been supported by a 1996 Switzer Environmental Fellowship from the Robert and Patricia Switzer Foundation, and he was personally honored with a 1988 James Centorino Award for Distinguished Performance in Marine Education from the National Marine Educators Association. Dr. Moir has been an environmental scientist for 42 years, and was the founding chairman of Ocean Champions from 2003 to 2010. Joining his quest is his wife, Toni Czekanski, as well as his children, Jesse, Ryan, and Brady.
