David P. Millenbaugh, Retired Manufacturing Improvement Manager at Owens-Illinois Glass Inc., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements and leadership in the Glass Manufacturing Industry.
Mr. Millenbaugh’s distinguished career in glass manufacturing spans more than five decades, marked by a steady progression from hands-on technical roles to executive leadership and global consulting. His expertise in glassmaking is widely recognized, and his professional journey reflects both adaptability and a commitment to operational excellence.
After retiring in September 2009 as the vice president and North America area manufacturing manager at Owens-Illinois (O-I) Glass Inc., where he notably oversaw eight factories, Mr. Millenbaugh was soon called back to the company as a consultant. In this capacity, he traveled extensively, providing critical evaluations and recommendations for plants facing operational challenges. Frequently, he returned with teams to implement solutions that drove measurable improvements.
Mr. Millenbaugh’s consulting work extended across North America, Mexico, New Zealand and China, where he led major improvement projects, plant expansions and operational turnarounds. Notably, beginning in 2014, he played a pivotal role in Mexico at O-I/Constellation Brands’ new plant operations, supporting the production of Corona and Modelo beer bottles. As commissioning manager for the plant’s expansion, Mr. Millenbaugh helped establish what is now regarded as the largest and one of the best-performing glass factories globally.
Throughout his career at O-I Glass Inc., which spanned over 35 years before his initial retirement, Mr. Millenbaugh earned numerous promotions and job recognitions for his contributions to the industry. He is most proud of his journey from apprentice operator to executive leader during a period of significant technological evolution within the field.
Before his role as the vice president and North America area manufacturing manager at his company, Mr. Millenbaugh served as the vice president and global glass technology process engineering manager in Perrysburg, Ohio, where he directed global technical services and coordinated glass operations worldwide. His international experience included four previous years as the industrial director in Brazil, where he managed multiple glass container plants, a mining operation and a mold manufacturing facility supplying global operations. Upon returning to North America, Mr. Millenbaugh served as manufacturing manager at O-I Canada Corporation.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Millenbaugh advanced through several key operational roles at O-I Glass Inc. He began as an apprentice forming machine operator in container glass manufacturing at age 20, producing beer bottles and food jars on fully mechanical machines that demanded significant physical skill. After completing a journeyman program and spending over five years at the Brockport plant in New York, Mr. Millenbaugh transferred in 1979 to Toano, Virginia. There, he progressed from operator to line production specialist, then to shift foreman overseeing beer bottle production.
Mr. Millenbaugh’s trajectory continued with assignments as forming supervisor at the Los Angeles plant and later as the production manager in Portland, Oregon. He returned to Los Angeles to manage production across forming, mold and machine repair, and batch and furnace operations, before taking on expanded responsibilities in Pomona and Oakland, California. These experiences prepared Mr. Millenbaugh for leadership roles as plant manager in Los Angeles and Tracy, California.
Mr. Millenbaugh’s educational foundation was established at Swanton High School in Ohio. During his final two years there, he attended Penta County Tech School, focusing on electronics. Although he did not pursue college studies, Mr. Millenbaugh completed extensive coursework in statistical process control and training in glass process management and human resource development throughout his career.
Beyond his professional achievements, Mr. Millenbaugh has contributed to civic life as a board member and architectural landscaping and maintenance manager for Creekwood Meadows. He attributes his success to working alongside accomplished professionals at O-I Glass Inc., maintaining a strong work ethic, making significant personal sacrifices and receiving steadfast support from his family. His willingness to adapt to changing circumstances has been instrumental in achieving operational excellence on a global scale. Looking ahead, Mr. Millenbaugh remains dedicated to supporting others through ongoing contributions within his field while remaining committed to enjoying life with his family.
