Matthew Kraft, Chief Operating Officer at Communitas, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements and leadership in Business Development.
Mr. Kraft is recognized for his dedication and expertise with a career spanning over 25 years in leadership, business development and strategic operations. Since 2018, as the chief operating officer of Communitas, a housing and community development company headquartered in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, he has played a pivotal role in shaping the company’s direction and growth. In this capacity, Mr. Kraft is responsible for contacting clients, presenting and pitching initiatives, supporting and mentoring team members, and participating in strategic calls with company leaders to implement digital marketing strategies. Mr. Kraft also collaborates with private equity partners on performance analysis and acquisition pipeline development, works closely with accounting and finance teams on cash flow and capital management, and coordinates with banking partners on structuring, closing and sourcing acquisitions.
Additionally, Mr. Kraft serves as the chief operating officer at Standpoint, a position he has held since 2018. Based in Dallas, the commercial restoration management company specializes in serving clients who have faced disasters and damage. Beyond his primary work, Mr. Kraft serves on the board of directors at Communitas. He has also served as a board member for Cruz CMBT since 2020.
Before his current executive roles, Mr. Kraft was a senior vice president of marketing and sales at Associa in Dallas from 2014 to 2018. During his tenure, he achieved two significant milestones, including launching a large-scale transformation project that consolidated accounting operations into a shared service center in Texas and managing the accounts of 6,000 clients. The second included leading an initiative that resulted in record sales growth through structured sales processes, enhanced marketing efforts and improved customer experience via digitization. Under Mr. Kraft’s guidance, Associa acquired the Brazilian-based application CondoSocial, adapted it for the U.S. market and launched it as TownSq, an industry-leading software solution that connects residents within community associations.
Mr. Kraft is most proud of his role as an architect of Associa’s vision, helping transform the company from one lacking a clear culture and strategic direction into an industry leader with a defined mission. He worked closely with the chief executive officer to crystallize this vision and contributed to the company’s remarkable growth from $359 million to $2 billion. Mr. Kraft values the development of those he has coached and mentored throughout his career, many of whom have achieved notable success themselves.
Initially joining the organization in 2011, Mr. Kraft served as the senior vice president of corporate development, where he focused on scaling small businesses, growing enterprises valued at $5 to $6 million into organizations valued at $85 to $90 million, and driving strategic initiatives that positioned the company for sustained expansion.
Before being acquired by Associa, Mr. Kraft held several key positions in the financial services sector, including vice president of dealer services training at GM Financial from 2006 to 2011, after serving as an account manager at Southwest Dealer Services between 2005 and 2006. At CENTRIX Financial between 2003 and 2005, he advanced from credit analyst to training manager, then dealer representative. Mr. Kraft’s professional journey began as a credit manager at AmeriCredit, now GM Financial, from 2000 to 2003.
Mr. Kraft’s academic background includes a Bachelor of Science in economics from Arizona State University in 2001 and an Executive Master of Business Administration from SMU Cox School of Business in 2011. He also holds the certified manager of community associations credential from the Community Association Managers International Certification Board.
Mr. Kraft’s commitment to professional excellence is reflected in his active membership with the Community Associations Institute. Beyond his professional responsibilities, he has demonstrated civic engagement as a volunteer with the autism community.
In light of his achievements, Mr. Kraft has been recognized with several accolades, including the Clifton Morris Jr. Award from GM Financial in 2008 and the Roger Kramer Memorial Award for Excellence in Leadership from Associa in 2015. He attributes his success to consistency, diligence and perseverance, qualities that have enabled him to progress steadily throughout his career.
Mr. Kraft has been lauded for his expertise in leadership, team building, process improvement, strategy execution, community management, marketing and sales. Looking ahead, he aims to advance into the role of president or chief executive officer at his company when the opportunity arises. Mr. Kraft envisions expanding the organization while cultivating a culture defined by high-performing professionals who take pride in their work, striving for industry recognition as a leading organization that values its employees’ contributions while supporting their professional growth and long-term success.
