In his leading role, Mr. Wallingford manages major components and purchasing, oversees sales and general management, directs work coordination, manages customer relationships, supervises laboratory testing operations and coordinates work schedules. Before his work at Economy Ball Mill, Mr. Wallingford worked as a lamination engineer at Glenro in Maysville, Kentucky, from 2011 to 2013. He previously spent time as a production technician in the paper industry at Temple Inland, also in Maysville, for over a decade beginning in 2000. During this period, he took advantage of a tuition reimbursement program to further his education while gaining valuable experience in industrial operations. Earlier in his career, Mr. Wallingford spent approximately five years in the mining industry at Carmeuse North America between 1995 and 2000 as a blasting, drilling, roof control and heavy equipment operator. These formative roles provided him with hands-on knowledge of industrial processes and shaped his approach to management and business development.
Mr. Wallingford’s educational background has played a critical role in his professional advancement. His academic journey began with an Associate of Applied Science from the Kentucky Community and Technical College System in Lexington, Kentucky, in 2009. He subsequently earned a Bachelor of Science in technology management in 2013 and a Master of Science in engineering and technology management in 2014 from Morehead State University in Morehead, Kentucky. The combination of practical experience and advanced education enabled Mr. Wallingford to develop an acquisition framework that ultimately led to the founding of JSB Industrial Solutions INC as an acquisition vehicle for Economy Ball Mill.
Throughout his career, Mr. Wallingford has maintained active involvement with civic organizations, such as Lions International. He is also deeply invested in community development within his hometown, a rural area with approximately 15,000 residents spread across 500 square miles. Mr. Wallingford has personally contributed to local improvement projects, such as renovating the community baseball field by adding new bases, fencing and utility fields where his children played. His support for youth athletics included matching a $5,000 donation to provide knee braces for the high school football team.
Mr. Wallingford’s commitment to professional excellence is reflected by accolades, including Small Business of the Year Manufacturing from the State of Kentucky, the Melvin Jones Award from Lions International and recognition as a Kentucky Colonel. Perseverance stands at the core of his philosophy for success. He attributes much of his progress to refusing to yield to self-doubt or adversity, a mindset reinforced during periods when others suggested abandoning his business pursuits. Instead of accepting defeat during difficult times such as the COVID-19 pandemic or after setbacks early in life, Mr. Wallingford relied on determination and adaptability to overcome obstacles.
Looking ahead, Mr. Wallingford plans to expand Economy Ball Mill by exploring strategic acquisitions that would allow for manufacturing both ball mills and auxiliary downstream processing equipment used in rare earth minerals processing, an area experiencing increasing demand due to microchip manufacturing requirements. Should these plans not come to fruition through acquisition, he intends to continue growing the business before eventually transitioning ownership to a private equity firm. After exiting day-to-day operations, Mr. Wallingford hopes to teach as an adjunct professor or become involved in vocational education.
