Tim Andersen, retired vice president of U.S. operations at McDonald’s Corporation and chair of Up with People, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in organizational administration.
With nearly four and a half decades of experience, Mr. Anderson has excelled in organizational administration at McDonald’s Corporation. He began his career with McDonald’s in 1979, steadily rising through the ranks, retiring as vice president of U.S. operations in 2023. Throughout his tenure, he oversaw varying numbers of people, including a peak responsibility for 70,000 employees in the East division and his most recent team consisting of 48 members. He served as vice president and general manager of McOpCo Restaurants in the East division from 2011 to 2014, corporate vice president of worldwide operations, security, and measurement from 2008 to 2011, and vice president and area manager of the West Division from 2001 to 2008.
Mr. Anderson participated in the company’s Global Leadership Development Program in 2010. He was the national chair of the McDonald’s PRIDE network, now Pride Employee Business Network, from 2011 to 2014, having served with the network for 10 years. He is also a supporter of Ronald McDonald House Charities, a dedicated mentor and coach, and holds various roles as a member of the Nevada Restaurant Association. Additionally, he remained actively involved with Up with People since 1981, currently serving as the chairman of the board of directors since 2024. Up with People is a global nonprofit organization that aims to inspire young people to make a positive impact through music and social action.
Mr. Anderson’s achievements throughout his career include revolutionizing Quarter Pounder production by using fresh ground beef cooked upon request and spearheading the all-day breakfast initiative. Additionally, he was awarded the Key to the City Award from the mayor of Las Vegas in 2000 and the President’s Award from McDonald’s in 1994. He attributes his success to his upbringing in South Dakota, integrity, and trustworthiness. He also acknowledges the cultural development and awareness he gained through his long-term affiliation with Up with People since 1981, which enabled him to grow his communication skills and engage effortlessly with diverse individuals. In the coming years, he aims to continue contributing to Up with People’s success, traveling, exploring new places, and engaging in additional nonprofit work, focusing on LGBTQ+ initiatives, Meals on Wheels, or organizations benefiting the aging population.
