Ashley K. Goulter, assistant director of financial aid at Lasell University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in finance and higher education.
For almost 20 years, Ms. Goulter has built an esteemed career in higher education, with a focus on financial services. Her professional life began in 2007 as a broadcast intern for WMUR, an ABC affiliate based in New Hampshire. While attending school at Colby-Sawyer College, Ms. Goulter worked as a technical assistant at the school’s Sawyer Center Theater. She gained initial experience in the world of finance as a teller for the Institution for Savings and in various roles for Cambridge Savings Bank, including teller, customer contact center specialist and compliance specialist.
In 2017, Ms. Goulter shifted into higher education when she accepted the position of financial aid counselor at Bay State College. She later became a financial aid counselor at Northeastern University. Ms. Goulter is particularly proud of her efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic, where she adapted university processes to navigate the challenges of quickly changing regulations. Her hard work during this challenging time ensured the safety of students and staff at the school, as well as keeping the institution in compliance with the latest government regulations.
Since 2021, Ms. Goulter has served as the assistant director of financial aid for Lasell University. She was initially contacted for this opportunity by the director of financial aid for the institution, who she had previously worked with at Bay State College. Ms. Goulter’s responsibilities include answering phone calls and emails and holding virtual interviews with families in order to help students secure financial aid. She has demonstrated a resilience and flexibility that has led to great success in the organization, and which forms the basis of why she was offered the position in the first place.
Before venturing onto her vocational path, Ms. Goulter established her own strong academic foundation to draw upon. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in communications from Colby-Sawyer College in 2008. Subsequently, Ms. Goulter has completed coursework towards a master’s degree in compliance and ethics at the New England College of Business. Committed to continued growth, she has also earned certification in retail compliance through Cambridge Savings Bank.
Ms. Goulter has been a member of several important organizations relevant to her field. Among them, she maintains membership in the Massachusetts Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators and the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrations. Additionally, Ms. Goulter has been associated with Lamba Pi Eta, the honor society for the National Communication Association. She attributes her success to adaptability, never giving up, and always emphasizing kindness toward others.
Outside of her career, Ms. Goulter is a loving mother to one son, to whom she devotes as much of her free time as possible. She brings the care and empathy she practices as a mother into her career, further aiding her performance and adding to her reputation. With that attitude in mind, Ms. Goulter hopes to achieve even greater outcomes in her role in the future. Her goal is to make Lasell University highly accessible, with a special eye toward making it easier for first-generation students to attend the school and get the financial aid they need.
