Brown A. Nevels III, PMP, CSM, senior project manager at the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth College of Public Health, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in project management.
For nearly 25 years, Mr. Nevels has built an esteemed professional life, beginning as a customer service supervisor at Albertsons in 2002. From there, he devoted almost 10 years as a commission manager and data analyst at Cellular World. Gaining great experience in data analysis in this role, Mr. Nevels developed new procedures that saved the company a notable amount of time and money. He then shifted into project management, becoming a senior project manager at Origen Laboratories and BizIntellis Inc.
Continuing to solidify his credentials in the field, Mr. Nevels served as a project manager at Tarrant County College and a senior project manager for the city of Fort Worth for several years each. During the latter tenure, he assisted with Fort Worth’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Mr. Nevels led an initiative that saw more than 20 community centers repurposed to support virtual learning for schoolchildren. This project reflects his commitment to being a servant leader and prioritizing helping others succeed however he can.
Since 2022, Mr. Nevels has served as the senior project manager for the School of Public Health at the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth. In this role, he reviews project schedules for multiple teams, oversees the budget, collaborates with other parts of the institution and monitors the scope and progress of various projects. Mr. Nevels has managed multimillion-dollar budgets and prides himself on ensuring successful project outcomes that properly align with the goals of the organization. He is especially proud of his collaboration with the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs at the U.S. Department of State in a program to track and address human trafficking. Alongside his efforts to combat human trafficking, Mr. Nevels has supported the University of North Texas in reuniting families using DNA repatriation techniques. He remains deeply energized about facilitating the effective use of forensics for this cause.
Prior to embarking upon his professional journey, Mr. Nevels set a foundation in his education. He obtained a bachelor’s degree in speech communication and business from Sam Houston State University in 2002. Subsequently, Mr. Nevels earned a master’s degree in education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2007. Dedicated to lifelong learning, he has continued training through various efforts outside of his academic career. Mr. Nevels is certified as a software test professional through the International Institute for Software Testing, as a system administrator through Smartsheet, as a Scrum master through the Scrum Alliance, and as a project management professional through the Project Management Institute.
Mr. Nevels has garnered several awards for his accomplishments throughout his professional life. While in college at Sam Houston State University, he received the Sammy Award for Outstanding Student Leadership and was invited to join the Golden Key Honor Society. In 2020, Mr. Nevels was named a North Region Award Winning Project Manager by the Texas Recreation & Park Society.
Outside of his career, Mr. Nevels is a loving family man to his wife and five children. He finds joy in kayaking, golfing, hiking, and attending live music events. Additionally, Mr. Nevels is passionate about craft beer brewing. He has worked with local breweries on several side projects, combining his hobby with his professional expertise.
Mr. Nevels’ ambitions for the future include further advancement in the project management field. Furthering his work with the University of North Texas, he hopes to spearhead projects that will have a lasting impact on his community and the world. Beyond that, Mr. Nevels also plans to start a real estate business alongside his wife. He envisions this venture operating as a source of passive income and generational wealth for his family.
