Mr. Lasher’s career in the fire alarm industry spans over 25 years, beginning in 2000 with a privately owned company in Davie, Florida. Initially uncertain about his career path, he quickly found his footing in the field. Mr. Lasher’s journey began with inspections and assisting the installation team while learning the industry’s terminology. His aptitude for service and troubleshooting propelled him into a service role until 2006, when the company was sold.
After a brief period with the acquiring company, Mr. Lasher moved to Quality Communications, where he led a small fire alarm department and managed significant contracts with Nova Southeastern University in Davie. Seeking better opportunities, he joined Advanced Fire and Security in Pompano Beach, Florida, where he advanced from service technician to lead service supervisor in just over five years.
In 2019, Mr. Lasher relocated to Mississippi with Johnson Controls Fire Protection LP as an installation technician. This role marked a pivotal point in his career as he transitioned to programming, sparking his interest in technology and career advancement. Upon returning to Florida, Mr. Lasher found a crucial opportunity at Hy-Tech Solutions Inc. in Key West in 2022.
Over the past few years at Hy-Tech Solutions Inc., as the company’s project manager, Mr. Lasher has managed day-to-day responsibilities across estimating, engineering and system programming. He leads technical operations primarily from the office while supporting field service as needed. His expertise in programming complex fire alarm and life safety systems for large-scale projects within the military, government, industrial and commercial sectors for the organization has been invaluable. Additionally, Mr. Lasher represents Hy-Tech Solutions Inc. as a Notifier distributor and collaborates closely with Honeywell International Inc.
Mr. Lasher’s educational background includes numerous professional credentials that have significantly contributed to his professional success. He holds certifications in fire alarm network programming and mass notification programming from Notifier University. Additionally, he has achieved level III fire alarm and fire protection certification from the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies. Mr. Lasher’s factory training and certifications span various manufacturers, including DSX, FCI Factory Training, Fire-Lite by Honeywell International Inc., Silent Knight by Honeywell International Inc., Simplex and Software House.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Mr. Lasher is actively involved in civic-minded organizations as a volunteer at his church and a local soup kitchen. He also frequently reads coding books and takes ongoing quizzes online from training facilities.
Looking ahead, Mr. Lasher aims to obtain his final certification in the industry. He has a strong desire to train others by sharing his knowledge in programming and testing to help individuals advance in their fields if they choose that path. However, as he approaches his 50th birthday, Mr. Lasher acknowledges that a career focused on hands-on service may not last indefinitely. Therefore, he wishes to expand his expertise in management while nurturing his love for engineering and problem-solving. Contemplating the possibility of becoming licensed and starting his own company is also on Mr. Lasher’s horizon, as he believes anything is possible with the right mindset when it comes to his future endeavors.
