Mr. Baum possesses more than 35 years of distinguished experience in information technology, with a particular focus on elections. Since 2021, he has served as the chief compliance officer at Votrite, where he is responsible for driving the certification and adoption of the Titan LT2100 voting machine. In this capacity, Mr. Baum has played a pivotal role in ensuring that Votrite’s technology meets rigorous standards for security, reliability and cost-effectiveness, supporting the integrity of elections nationwide. Based in Boca Raton, Florida, Votrite is recognized as an innovative leader in election and hack-proof paperless electronic voting technology.

Before his current position, Mr. Baum was engaged as a subject matter expert in election systems for the board of elections in the City of New York in 2016. In this role, he provided critical analysis and guidance on election technology and processes, contributing to the advancement of secure and efficient voting systems for one of the largest municipalities in the U.S.

In 2014, Mr. Baum founded Vener8 in Mount Laurel, New Jersey, where he leveraged his expertise to deliver innovative solutions and consulting services within the technology sector. He led his consulting company for a year and a half.

From 1997 to 2006, Mr. Baum was a research vice president at Gartner Inc. in Stamford, Connecticut. During his tenure at Gartner Inc., he assisted governments around the world in preparing for Y2K. Mr. Baum also forecasted significant challenges related to voting technology in the U.S., a prediction that was validated during the Bush versus Gore presidential election in 2000. As a testament to his insight and impact on the field, Mr. Baum retains one of the iconic “hanging chad” voting systems from Broward County, Florida.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Baum served as a manager at Datapro Information Services Group in the Township of Delran, New Jersey, between 1994 and 1997, after previously holding the role of managing editor from 1991 to 1994. In these capacities, he oversaw editorial operations and information systems projects that supported clients’ evolving technology needs. Mr. Baum was also instrumental in designing, staffing, implementing and launching Datapro’s first all-electronic service, DataproStat.

Mr. Baum was an information systems manager at Henry Silverman Jewelers Inc., in El Paso, Texas, between 1988 to 1991. There, he developed custom software solutions, including a cash register program tailored to retail operations. Mr. Baum also excelled as a manager for Norton Brothers Computer Center in El Paso, from 1984 to 1988, worked as a coordinator of information systems at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in El Paso between 1981 and 1983, and gained experience as a sales manager at ComputerLand in El Paso from 1980 to 1981, following the start of his career at The ByteShop Brentwood in Los Angeles, California, during the early days of personal computing, working with notable clients such as George Carlin and Bob Newhart before accepting an offer from Epson’s first American distributor.

Additionally, Mr. Baum has contributed as an independent consultant for Faulkner Information Systems in Pennsauken, New Jersey. He has also served as a contributing editor for Software Advice in Austin, Texas. Throughout his career, Mr. Baum has been recognized as an expert in elections, election security, voting technology and government services, an achievement underscored by his longstanding involvement with initiatives such as the Help America Vote Act and collaboration with the U.S. Elections Assistance Commission.

Mr. Baum holds a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics from the University of Texas at El Paso and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. He also completed coursework at Rowan University in Mount Laurel, New Jersey, and was a collegium student at Occidental College in Los Angeles. Mr. Baum holds certification as a project management professional, where he is also a professional member, reflecting his commitment to excellence and best practices within complex project environments.

Mr. Baum’s creative pursuits included writing and narrating “Aluminum Doesn’t Give a Damn” and providing character voice work for the film “Schizofriendia” in 2012. He also served as the writer, producer and narrator for “War of the Worlds” in 2013.

Mr. Baum’s contributions have included multiple awards from Gartner Inc., recognizing both sales partnership and teamwork, including the Gartner Bronze Award for Sales Partnership and the Gartner Cultural Icon Award for Teamwork. He attributes his success to an unconventional approach, eschewing reasonableness for bold innovation, and credits his willingness to take risks as a driving force behind his achievements. Looking ahead, Mr. Baum aims to continue working with Votrite to ensure that its state-of-the-art technology achieves certification by the Election Assistance Commission and is adopted.
