Michael Bud Krontz, Technical Glazing Specialist at MBKrontz and Field Service Specialist at Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope®, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Framing and Installation.
Mr. Krontz has established himself in the commercial glazing and aluminum framing industry, earning recognition for his technical expertise and commitment to client satisfaction over the past four decades. Currently, he serves as a field service specialist at Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope®, where he is mainly responsible for ensuring proper installation of OBE glazing systems, assisting installers with field concerns and detail issues, and traveling to client sites to develop tailored solutions for damaged or misunderstood materials. In this capacity, Mr. Krontz also addresses technical questions regarding installation procedures, including the application of sealants, ensuring that clients receive comprehensive support throughout their projects.
Hired as the lead project manager at Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope® in 2022, Mr. Krontz managed large-scale projects and coordinated cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality results. In addition to his current role, he is the technical glazing specialist and owner at MBKrontz, where he leverages his extensive knowledge of commercial aluminum framing and glazing systems. Mr. Krontz is recognized for designing custom solutions, such as the sloped glaze curtain wall for the Nevada State Museum in Carson City, Nevada, a project that stands out among his notable achievements. He takes pride in guiding customers through complex glazing system challenges and ensuring they are equipped with the information needed to avoid unexpected issues.
Before his commitment to OldCastle BuildingEnvelope®, Mr. Krontz worked for Engineered Wall Systems, a building enclosure company in North Texas, as an operations manager from 2019 to 2022. This role helped shape his leadership skills, overseeing daily operations and optimizing workflow efficiency.
Between 2017 and 2018, Mr. Krontz contributed his expertise as a project manager at Kovach Building Enclosures in Dallas, Texas. He also served as a senior facilities professional at Building Exterior Solutions Inc., a Terracon company, in Dallas/Fort Worth, from 2015 to 2017. In this consulting role, Mr. Krontz provided technical guidance on exterior systems and played a key part in the company’s transition following its acquisition by Terracon.
Mr. Krontz’s experience also included leading positions as an engineering manager at Admiral Glass Company in Houston, Texas, from 2014 to 2015. This short tenure was preceded by his initial and longstanding association with Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope®, starting as a project manager, then as a product designer, EWW manager and engineering manager, before ultimately returning to the organization in 2022.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Krontz excelled as an engineering manager at Shaffner Heaney Associates Inc. for five years, between 2000 and 2005, after serving as a project manager and manufacturer’s representative for the company from 1994 to 2000. During these 10 years, he worked across Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio. Mr. Krontz began his professional journey as a senior draftsman at Kawneer in Harrisonburg, Virginia, in 1988.
Mr. Krontz’s educational background included completing his secondary education at Sturgis High School in 1985. Shortly thereafter, he acquired an associate degree in architectural engineering technology from the ITT Technical Institute in Fort Wayne, Indiana, in 1988. This technical foundation has been instrumental throughout his career, enabling him to excel in both design and management roles.
Committed to professional development, Mr. Krontz maintains membership with the American Architectural Manufacturers Association. Beyond this affiliation, he maintains involvement with civic organizations, including his local church, reflecting a commitment to community engagement and religious services.
Mr. Krontz attributes much of his success to the mentorship he received early on from exceptional leaders within the industry. Notably, one of his first supervisors was a colonel whose guidance left a lasting impact on his approach to leadership and problem-solving. Looking ahead, Mr. Krontz aspires to serve as a valuable resource for glazing professionals by sharing industry knowledge that is rapidly disappearing as experienced practitioners retire and corporate priorities shift away from craftsmanship toward cost efficiency. Moreover, he remains dedicated to supporting small glazing shops and advocating for quality artistry within an evolving industry landscape.
